20 grand :p Is that if you buy one of each? [;)]
A turbo is easily .£20k.... average is well over £10k... good to excellent mid £20k... Concours well over £30k........ those are the values put on the turbo today.. my own car is valued at £25k with advisory from Lockton's that it needs to go higher.

Great new mag out with quentin wilson,,classic cars is its name and i just bought its 2nd edition and its a whats the best porsche to buy from a 911 sc,,924s,,928s4,,944s2,,,996,,and cayman for a certain price and to gain the most value in coming years,,,
journo said if it was a head decision then it would be the sc bit the car that ticked all the boxes and the one he would spend his money on would be the ----drum roll--- the s2!,,,
an in depth report of each model with an owners view also,,,,,
great mag imho,,,,been crying out for a mag like this although there values section seems a bit off on the front engined porsches,,,,,,jay

I saw that edition in WHS, I didn't buy it as the turbo wasn't in the lineup.... shame...

Nice to see the 944s getting some attention - across the pond here the PCA mag and Excellence (seems to be the #1 independent Porsche mag in North America) is touting the 928s of late and mentioning the 944 Turbo and S2s as worthy (and slowly gaining value). A nice change as it seems 944s are not Porsche to them because Porsche didn't assemble them yet 968s are Porsche because they did. Also an excellent write up on the engineering upgrades which became the 968 (apparently they explored a 6 cyl version - inline I assume- but insufficient potential to pursue). Of particular interest was the fact that the 944S2 was considered "an excellent car albeit pricey" at the end of the run and that the entry price for the 968 (at US$41,200ish) was lower than the S2. Then even tho they didn't sell all that many 968s Porsche is quoted as having "made a very good profit per car" even after spending a lot to create the vario-cam engine and the 6-speed trans. Granted the vario-cam development costs could be spread across all models at the time but it makes me wonder what margin they were making on the S2s and what might have happened if Porsche priced this line for more volume and less per-unit profit.

Pete,,, i would think and the way it reads is that the 944 turbos fetch too much money compared to the models in the article and based on future prices then the turbo didnt make it because of high money only and nothing to do with the car and how it drives,,,,
So i think a positive thing for turbo owners as it would seem in years to come also that a turbo will be unreachable for many.. so ommited from this article for that main reason..
they included a 924s but not a 924 turbo if you see what i mean....jasonp

Let's not forget the poor relations.....

I'm pretty sure Porsche built 944's before the S2 and Turbo came along [:D]

Hi Jason

I realised that the article was about budget and future potential in the cars mentioned so understood that in today's market the turbo wouldn't fit those criteria, I wasn't complaining about there being any turbo models presented, just that as such the article held little interest for myself. Being a turbo nutter you understand...:)

hey Pete,,,
totally understand[:)],,,,,,
yes Paul,, they were very positive about the 924,944,,,that includes all models i would assume,,,,,,jasonp
