Nile green turbo

Going to look at a car to replace the lux.
It's a dark green (Nile?) 1987 turbo. Reg W1L 2944. Anyone know any history of this car?
It's a 220bhp so will it not have ABS, so early offset and my Cup alloys off my 88 lux fit? Also did the early ones not have a LSD in the gearbox?

An '87 car will have the same wheel offset as your '88 lux so you should have no problem swapping the wheels over. LSD was an option so it might have it, check the sticker in the boot for option 220.

I haven't seen that colour before either.

I don't think it is a late offset car because I don't think the 16" Turbo teledials were ever made to fit the late offset. The only year of late offset 220 car production (which was from Sep '87 for the '88 model year) has the 928 "flat disc" wheels - you very very rarely see them, but John Sims car had them for example. From MY'89 they had Forged alloys as all cars were 250s and then from '90 they changed to D90s. I don't think your '88 Lux wheels will fit, then. Having said that a lovely set of Fuchs would [;)]

It wouldn't have an LSD as standard though it's not a hugely uncommon option.

What interior does it have to go with the green?

Actually, I think based on your confirmation, Scott, that the ABS offset was in Sep '86 for the MY '87 - so on that basis I think it's likely this green Turbo will have the late offset.

I suppose one easy check is to look for the ABS relay in the fuse box. I had always thought that the early non-abs turbos were fitted with Fuchs alloys with the 16" teledials fitted to the post abs 220bhp cars and the D90's coming in on the 250bhp cars?

I am not that bothered if the wheels fit or not as I think that 16" teledials still look cool. The LSD would be good if it has one. The interior is as below, It looks a bit well used.

It's a good colour combo if you don't mind green - some people are superstitious about it though personally I'm ambivalent so would tend to avoid it only because of potential problems come resale time.

Scott, Fuchs were an option on early cars (Lux also I believe) with teledials being the standard Turbo wheel. It's possible from my knowledge that early offset Luxes all had cookie cutters as standard and the 15" teledial only came in with the ABS offset.

Well I didn't buy the car as it needed just a bit to much work, so the search continues. Thinking I might just do the Lux up and keep it as I don't think I will find a turbo sub 8k that is in as good condition as my Lux was.

Just thought I would add a photo of how it looked.
