Off to Tokyo later this month and will be meeting up with Tokyo based early 911 enthusiasts![:D]
Hope to get some pics and do a write up. My host has a real 2.7RS in Irish Green.
The Japanese call the early 911's 'narrow style cars' . I dont know how many will fetch them out , it has been snowing there [;)]

Well , I'm back from Tokyo and will produce an article for Porsche Post and for 'Esses' ( early 911s registry).

Meantime as I promised some feedback on this forum , here are some shots which include 3 x 2.7RS's , one of them was a lightweight in Gulf Blue that I sat in ( but was not given the keys!)

Hi John, nice pictures, I particularly like the blue RS, a beautiful car.
How is the Porsche scene in Japan right now ?
Were there any old cars lost in last years devastating Tsunami ?
I look forward to your Porsche Post report on the "Narrow Style" Porsche cars.

Hi Robin , just a quick note so as not to pre-empt what I write later !
I am lucky enough to have a son who has lived in Japan for almost 10 years and he was with me as interpreter for this meeting , so got a bit of an insight from him.
I did not hear anything about cars being destroyed by the tsunami , however it seems that most of the early Porsches are in and around Tokyo , which was not really affected other than a bit of quake shock.
The guys I met were fairly young and successful , either business owners or bankers .....one young banker was having his car restored and expecting a big rise in its value.
The two iconic cars for them were the 73 RS and the first turbo. The workshop we visited had two of each under wraps.

What I did not expect as Japan is RHD was that the demand for Porsches is for LHD , it seems if you have a foreign car you must call attention to its 'foreignness' for maximum kudos.

I gave our host a 2010 GRRC sticker in irish green/silver to match his RS ...which went down well [:D].

Thanks for the info John, I had heard that LHD cars are liked in Japan, for the driver to exit on the kerb side ?
