Nitrogen - Tyres

My OPC is now offering a nitrogen inflation service for tyres. Has anyone tried this yet?. Number of claims being made over old fashioned air:

Increased tyre life
Reduced fuel consumption
Better handling

Nitrogen doesnt expand as much as damp air when heated so pressure remains more constant so may help with track day use. Of course the F1 boys have been using this for some time.

Had the 17mm spacers fitted to my car today so wheel arches now look a bit fuller

Bob, what was the charge (pardon pun) for this service? Might give it a try in the Corsa's.

A recent R13 meeting was given a presentation by a Michelin rep. I took the opportunity to ask of the advantages of Nitrogen fill. The response was that when Michelin were participating in F1 they used dried air not Nitrogen and that the advantages of N over dried air were limited to the very slightly reduced leakage rate due to the larger average molecule size.
