Nitrous oxide injection

Anyone injected this? Into their car?

Reason - after mistakenly rebuilding my 3.2 (instead of fitting a 993), I hanker after more power, but not all the time.

Engine is now in fine fettle. So I thought supercharge / MoTeC / NO2

NO2 satisfies the "not all the time" bit, so I'm asking y'all for opinions (especially 911Guru Richard Bernau's!)

Cheers

Hmmm. My first ever exposure to NO2 was when I went to Santa Pod in 1975 for the first time. I saw the first run in Europe sub 7second. (Dennis Priddle Mr Six). Anyhow, a few of my old neighbours own Top Fuel Funny Cars running on Nitro Methane....(5000hp anyone) so I 'm sort of very familiar with the why's how (and how nots).

I have personally heard of no conversion for the 3.2 but I suppose with a bit of jiggery pokery you could do it. I suspect (know) you will need a very detailed evaluation of the tune after fitting to avoid all the normal issues when you over use (i.e. detonation) but I guess you knew this anyhow.

If you can find someone that has already produced a "bolt on" kit, with mixture and timing re-mappings, then why not ?

If however all the NO2 tuners start twitching, then I would give them the widest possible berth and then pick up the phone to the handful of UK people who have already fitted a supercharger to the 3.2

Power is good, but I'm guessing you would like to keep your engine intact for a while ? If that is so, then I recommend that you play safe and just bolt on a supercharger. John Bellringer is the man on this forum (and others perhaps) so why not get in touch with him ?

I can only point you in the direction of the Pelican forum. They may pour scorn on your NO2 ideas but I am sure a search will find some useful info. I suspect the US is the only place you will find a kit.

Isn't there a 911 with NO2 for sale in 911World this month? IRRC, it has a Zeemax bodykit and looks rather horrid, but maybe the owner can shed some light?

I have to say that NO2 doesn't appeal to me, but then its application is very limited for a track car as I spend maybe 50% of the time at WOT for 20+minute sessions, so a small tank of NO2 would be all gone in a lap or two. But each to his own.

Richard

I supercharged my 3.2 (done by Steve Holgate - now out of business - try 930 Motorsport). Fantastic!!!!!!.

Nitrous is now looking scary.

Will investigate supercharging (John Bellringer provided some info to me)

Cheers

I heard about a Ferrari running NOS from an adapated fire extinguisher....when it really did burst into flames he had to plea with his rescuers NOT to let off the 'fire extiguisher'.... [8|]
