No brakes at all :(

Brakes have been absolutely fine but the ABS pump was super noisy at self test and didn't work.

Replaced it with a US sourced one last weekend and got around to changing the fluid and bleeding the brakes today.

Bled them like a champ courtesy of my Easibleed but the pedal has next to no resistance in it with the engine running and a tad more when it is switched off. I'm assuming that the pump is the culprit, although I can't figure out why. I've got the wiring diagram for the ABS system and was hoping to try and cycle the pump via 12v to check it but the diagram may as well be in Japanese.

Help!!!

It must be ABS hassle Season, I am working on an ABS problem, and the only comment I would throw in at this stage is that the old fashioned two person bleed procedure is best.

The vac bleed system I used I think caused me issues. Suggest you try Rear OS, Rear NS, Front OS Front NS and do both nipples on each caliper purging thru a minimum of 250ml at each corner. Close the bleed valve on a slow pedal press movement.

I tried to operate the ABS pump without success, does it require more than one input......? not sure at this stage.

When do you get the fault lamp illuminate? at Ignition on, or shortly after moving off, or is it random???

Hope it sorts easily for you

If your bleeding the brakes on your 944 you need to bleed both rears before moving to the front. This is due to the fact that the rear brakes work from a single feed which is split just under the rear end.

One caliper bleed both nipples at a time. Rear passenger side then rear drivers side then passenger front and driver front.Should do the trick.

Ta, I know what order to do them in as did them a couple of times on my 2.7, just didn't realise that there were two bleed nipples per caliper.

D'oh!

On the positive side, hopefully it's as simple as that as there is some pedal bounce back indicative of air in the system.

Eldavo, I'm going to guess you bled only the outer half of each calliper, and I'd suggest you now bleed first the inner, then the outer again on all for corners of the car in sequence.

I am still working my ABS issue and broke a rear sensor this afternoon unfortunately.

Hope you are having better luck[:)]

I have brakes again.

Went round and rebled the system in order, starting with the previously unknown inner half first :)

George - Not to shout about it too loudly but I also have ABS now!!!

(Although I do kind of miss the loud "urrrmmmmm" noise from the pump when first doing 5mph)

As ever this creates another job, namely putting the bulbs back in the binnacle for the MOT.

Dave, i have a self bleed twin nipple kit so that you can do both sides of the caliper in a one [;)]
