No headlights!

My headlights failed during the weekend []

I have sidelights and high beam but no dipped beam.
The two small fuses are intact and the bulbs are fine.

I can only think that the relay (top left on the panel I think it is) has developed a fault.

Is there anything else I can check before I get someone to look at it?

Check voltage to earth at fuses 1 to 4. If there is 12 volts there, then there must be a broken wire or connector. It is not uncommon for the wires to break where they bend just behind the headlight. If there is 12 volts on higbeam but nothin on low beam then investigating the relay is a good way to go. Just check that the two pin connector plug hasn't come off the back of the column switch, especially if you have had the switches off recently.

I hate to state the obvious but if side lights and main beam is working I would also suspect the dip switch.

Got the headlights sorted out on Tuesday.

I spent a while before then looking at bulbs, wiring, relays and fuses and must have done something right as I took it in to be looked at only to have them ring me back a few hours later to say that they were working fine.

I think it must have been a bad connection on the relay.
