No longer a Porsche virgin

So, just to introduce myself to the forum. I have just purchased my first Porsche, a 997 Carrera 4S Gen1 of which I am over the moon with. When I saw the advert I couldn't not take a look at the car - 98k on the clock with new engine supplied and fitted by Porsche Reading in 2012 which was approx 33k miles ago with receipts!!! The car has been so well maintained I was in shock - the history! Examples of the maintenance are; Gaiters split slight corrosion - previous owner replaced whole front suspension when advised new gaiters will suffice. New brakes in 2013 discs and pads all round. Came with brand new set of pilots all round and not a mark on the alloys! Air con condensers replaced 2014! New clutch July this year!

TOTAL SPENT ON MAINTENANCE £28,198.88

The spec is;

911 Carrera 4S
19 Inch Carrera Sport Alloys
Adaptive Sports Seats
Auto Dim Mirrors With Rain Sensor
Bose Audio System
Heated Seats
Navigation PCM
ParkAssist
Porsche Embossed On Head Restraints
Tracker
Rear Wiper
Sport Chrono Plus
Sport Shifter
Sports Exhaust
Tel Module
Multi Function Steering Wheel
Grey Tint To Windscreen Top

What prompted me to get my backside in gear and look at buying a Porsche is my brother owns a 2012 991 Carrera 2 and once I had driven it I was hooked. The wail, the way it held the road and the look was intoxicating - out of my price range somewhat though. Once I drove my 997 for the first time I couldn't believe how much more analogue the car was against a modern PDK equpped 911, I could feel everything from thuds off cats eyes to every single change in surface. I have never driven anything quite like it before, I just had to have a deal! So now every morning I wake up and look at her, a Porsche my dream car on my drive with the keys in my hand!

I am already thinking of getting an exhaust system and a remap and was hoping maybe anyone had some good suggestions?

Any way, looking forward to engaging with some of you and enjoying some of the threads on here. Hopefully meeting some new people and finally enjoying a dream truly come true.

All the best!

Gregg

Its Seal Grey, looks beautiful! Once the winters through I'm going to have her corrected and detailed throughout to really see the colour in all its glory :)

Oh, now that would look lovely in the office that calender! Please let me know cost and how to order.

Many thanks!

Thanks for all the positive comments, have spoken with guys at DMS about some upgrades and looks like I'll be taking the plunge... Before I do any advice/experience with them? They seem pretty well reccomended through forums.

Hi Gregg and welcome, it's a great feeling getting your first 911 and yours sounds like it's a really good one. I recently met some of the 997 owners when we joined them for their Christmas Dinner, we had a great weekend and an enjoyable drive with them. You should hook up with the 997 Register if you haven't already.

Welcome!!
Like you I am a newbie to the world of Porsche ownership and also bought a 997 C4S. I had also considered a 991 but the prices were too steep but that said I don't feel like I short changed myself getting the 997. It's a great car and drives superbly! Enjoy!! I am 2 weeks into ownership and still have a massive grin on my face ;)

I am 20 months into 997 2S, I know what you are feeling, but be prepared, that feeling is the same now if not stronger after 20 months. What a privilege it is to own one of these??????
