No Sound From Bose HIFI

Hi All, just picked up a 2004 C4S this afternoon - 1st 911 after a selection of Boxsters. Love the car, but cant get any sound from the stereo. Everything appears to work - radio stations etc, however after I set up the base & treble etc and left the car - the settings were lost on my return 2 hrs later (also failed to recognise the CD in the single slot in the dash) This is the standard CDR23 with BOSE anyone have any thoughts?? []

Thanks

Maybe it's set up to use another auxiliary input such as an iPod. I have the Bose with 6 disc changer in the front and it can be set to use another input (when the multi-changer has been disconnected). If one of the buttons - "S" or "BD" etc is pressed for a while it takes you into another menu system where you can select aux input.

Check the manual, have a play, give the dealer a call. In that order I'd say!

Unfortunately this was a private sale - spoke to OPC today - they suggested it was the amplifier, and stated they would fit an exchange amp (£400 +vat + labour) Am going to have the system checked by an auto electrician, to try and identify the offending component before I replace the amp - anyone know where I could source a used amp and potential prices?

Take it to a good indy and get them to run a diagnostic check first. It might pinpoint the problem, rather than changing bits randomly.

If you do have to replace the amp, try one of the breakers (Porsch-Apart, Douglas Valley) or keep an eye on eBay as they sometimes come up on there.

Sounds like they have a over supply of amps and targets to meet ...

I can't think of any reason why the head-unit loosing its base and treble settings and not recognising the CD would be caused by a faulty amp.

Thanks guys - car going for a diagnostic check tomorrow - hopefully this will locate the faulty component in the chain - apparently even a faulty multichanger can break the fibre optic circuit resulting in silence! I will pass on the suggested problem/solution.

Had diagnostic check carried out today - result - digital signal going into amp but no signal coming out thru convertor - solution - new amp. Tried the porsche breakers but they dont have the part at present. At least I know what the problem is and how to sort it - the amp was easily removed from the front boot beside the spare wheel. Thx for the help & info.
