Nocturnal Policemen?

Signor

New member
Greetings one and all.
Has anyone ever got done at night with the good ol' "Hair dryer" laser gun or any other device? I know the fixed Gatso's never sleep[&o] and other stationary bits of kit.[] But I don't think plod actually goes hunting at night for motorists, who happen to be making good progress![:D]
Unless of course, I've been a little "too" fortunate in the last forty odd years of being "journey time" efficient[:)]
Ladies and Gentleman your comments please.

I have often thought the same, but never asked the question. Should be an interesting thread to follow

I've certainly seen them operating at night.

Handheld laser rested on the roof of the patrol car on the M25 (he did target us - we were legal)
A huge "sting" operation a few years ago on the dual carriageway that leads to the M25 at the Reigate intersection. This is a 50 (!) and we saw them from the other side, swung around the roundabout and headed for them (wanted to test the new radar detector [:D]) we did a steady indicated 50 (more like 45 in real terms) and they hit us 4 or 5 times in 2-300 yards. Totally wrong as the guidlines state they are only supposed to use them to confirm a suspicion that the target is exceeding the speed limit.[] As we passed they had a dozen or so officers, motorcycle chase guys, vans, the works.

Oh, another. Farnborough Town Centre - anout 1 in the morning. Had just stopped and pulled over as the car (not Porsche) was playing up. Had the bonnet up - all in full sight of the patrol car on the roundabout. As we pulled away we got lasered [&:] Could only have been doing 15-20 mph[8|]

I have never been"done" but you occasionally get them operating on the northern part of the M6 ie south of Carlisle to just past Penrith using vans on the bridges combined with speed cameras on tripods(should that be tri-plods?).
Also ,lower down in the Wigan area, times upto midnight.

When I lived in Dorset in 1990 I was caught by a motorcycle cop using a laser gun about 11pm in a small town called Wool near Wareham.

The guy was dressed in black leathers and was hidden behind a lamp post while he used the gun. I saw him at the last minute when he jumped out in front of me and nearly ran him over!! I got the three points and he nearly got himself killed! Great brakes on the 944 Lux that I had then.

My wife was with me at the time and she didn't see him at all until we stopped. She said she would have run him over had she been driving.

Thats a very aggressive statement. Wouldn't want to meet her on a bad day......

OH YES got 5 points and threatened with a ban!!! For doing 70+ on a dual carriageway at 4am no other traffic on the road - I was only 18 and it hammerd my Ins.... zi ole bill, they never sleep esp traffic cops (in white topped caps - ie engineer police)!
Watch out there are bears about!

I'm suprised by confirmation that Lazers can be used after dark.

So in the trademark words of Sgt Phil Esterhaus from the Hill Street Blues, 'Lets be careful out there'

Agressive? You must have led a sheltered life!

Yes I got caught at night, or so I thought. When I approached the officer with his special laser gun my tractor beam fitted in the front bumper identified him at 500 metres and instantly flipped my special flip plates ( monaco origin), the officer could not identify the car and gave chase, however I deployed my oil slick mechanism and the police car span off the road. I turned 360 degress and opened fire with the headlight mounted machine guns. Well needless to say I never did receive my fine and points, so with a little time and effort you too could modify your car to avoid these silly little men with their stealth tax guns!!!

My name...........Bond.................James Bond

Greetings one and all.
Well it just goes to show that one must adhere to the regulation speed limits where ever one goes day or b****y night. [] Yeah right[;)] Not cricket thats what I say[:'(] What I need is some sort of "invisibility stealth cloak" that I can drap over the car as I leave the local "watering hole" at mach three. Easy pessy[8|] just visit Ebay me thinks. I think I've seen them under "car covers" or under "magic" (poor boy.ed.)
Anyway thanks guys, just keep your peepers open at all times I suppose.
B****r
