Noise levels

I am planning to take the 944 on a number of track days this year, but with the ever increasing noise numpties, especially at my favourite Croft, I don't want to book and find out the car is too noisy.

I suspect that it is way below any realistic limits, but does anyone have an idea what kind of noise levels the 944 emits?

A 944 on a standard exhaust, providing it is not blowing somewhere, will be fine.

If you want reassurance the best thing to do is turn up to a track day at Croft with someone else who're running, and just observe the other cars that pass noise, and what they sound like on the circuit. Chances are your car will be obviously a lot quieter than the noisiest one that passes.

Exhaust noise is measured static however people dont realise how much noise is caused by induction (especially bobble throtties and carbs)

A 944T has a looooong intake tract and is less noisy therefore which is why the engine on full chat is a whistle/whine and not a roar so you are more likely to pass (especially as most are black flagged by drive by meters)

Every 3dB (either way) is a doubling (or halving) of the baseline sound level.
