Noises

I am hearing things !

1. Scraping noise from rear offside wheel worse on turning right especially round roundabouts. It was mild but after the trackday at Castle Combe on Saturday is now quite noticable. Discs and pads are OK and car has only done 9000 miles.

2. Creaking from roof especially behind my right ear but also on the left. Sounds like plastic flexing. It's driving me mad. Obvious solution is to have the roof down I know ! Porsche centre have had the car once but have failed to fix it.

Any ideas ?

Stephen

1) I got the same Scraping noise from rear wheels when driving fast round roundabouts.

Does anyone know if a 2003 Boxster has a LSD ?

2) I also get a sound coming from the roof, I think it comming from the top of the window seal, where the two seals join.
If I drop the window or press on the seal with my hand it stops.

Regards,
Bluebox.

It might be worth asking a garage to check the rear wheel bearing(s). Mine had to have one replaced, (under warranty), at it's 12K service and a friend had a similar problem with his.

I too have a creaking noise coming from the plastic roof edging on the offside only. It seems more prevalent in the hotter weather than colder so seems to me to be the joints moving against each other and the old co-efficient of expansion at work. Dropping window changes nothing. Pushing up with my hand seems to stop it. Bought Holts silicon spray for seals and applied to joints with a cloth and it seems to have improved a little.
Would be interested to know if others have similar and solved it.
One thought though. I notice wear patches in the fabric of the hood exterior and wonder if the hood can come loose and settle incorrectly when lowered. Further I notice when hood partially opened string/cable running through roof edge and wonder if that has loosened and plastic joints not clamping shut as tight as designed?

LSD - not on any production Boxster.
Thanks for the info, I can be assured it's not the LSD as it doesn't have one.
It sounds like the tyres fighting for grip, still not sure if this is normal, my 19yo Mk1 MR2 doesn't do it[:)]
I hope its not rear wheel bearing[X(] I taking it for a MOT on Sat.

Roof - My roof has been silent since I had the car (2003 2.7), until I took it for a service last week and they sprayed silicone lubricant all over the rubber seals, now it creeks and cracks like made, driving me insane[], so i took it back and asked them to rectify it, they said they have cleaned the rubber seals and metal work where the seals meet (not sure what with) but it seems to have done the trick...!?!?[:)]
