Noisy drivers window

Hi,

the driver window when powered down or up makes a squeeky noise. I have cleaned the rubber seals and it does not help. I think it is inside the door maybe with the guides/runners that the window slides in.

Any help or suggestions?

How do I remove the door trim to have a look? Any special notes as it has an airbag in the door trim?

many thanks

Meant to say previous - try spraying small amount of lubricant down window rear and front edge to see if it is squeeking in the 'slides'. Didn't work with mine as it was the cable.

HELP!!!!

The first step is to disconnect the battery. As soon as I do this the alarm goes off and I can not stop it. The owners manual does not mention anything about this.... The alarm must have a battery back up. How do I disconnect the battery without the alarm going off????

thanks

I think you need to have the key turned on (without starting the car) when you disconnect the battery.

That's correct Greg. Just turn off all the loads you can - aircon/radio/interior lights, etc, before you disconnect. Negative terminal first, for safety. Leave the key in that position until you reconnect.

The alarm siren has a backup battery. When you disconnect the battery it 'thinks' it is being stolen, unless the ignition is on. Stupid really, as the alarm would have gone off long before a thief reached the battery.

thanks for the prompt replies... it does not mention this in the manual??

I had trouble stopping the alarm too after this mess up. What is the sequence to stop? I reconnected the battery shut all the doors, boot and bonnet and then operated the key fob a few times. it did'nt stop it at first so i tried the door lock. not sure what sequence stopped it in the end as i was in a bit of a panic??? It would be good to know the correct sequence to stop, in case i mess up again.

thank you

ps. now a fully paid up member too as i received membership number and porsche post magaizine in the mail yesterday!!!!

loving the car and the whole ownership experience apart from the noisy alarm experience this morning!!

No, it doesn't say it in the operator's manual.

To stop the alarm sounding (with the battery connected) just switch on the ignition with the key.

Drop a PM to one of the admins with your membership number, and they will upgrade your forum status. Then you will be able to see all the technical articles, like the one on changing the battery, and how to stop the alarm going off!!!!
