Noisy fuel pump

Is it me or has my fuel pump got noisy over the past few weeks?

There is a constant droning now when I am idling and I am sure it has got louder recently - anyone had the same thing?

Cheers,

Mark

Yes Mark, it was the wife, I fed her more red wine and she went to sleep. Funily enough, the droning stopped![:D]

Sorry, I couldn't resist!....

Ha ha - nice one! I will try going out alone and see if the droning stops!
Actually beginning to wonder now if it is the abs pump - hmmmm

Without sounding like a 'newbie' it is the droning you get when turning ignition on before starting the engine. I had kind of assumed it was the fuel pump but I am now wondering if it is indeed ABS related...

Any petrolheads got a good answer out there?

Thanks,

Mark

I believe the noise you are referring to is the brake pressure reservoir which is part of the braking system on C4 cars which I think differs from the system used in the C2. The tank pressurises on start up and is replenished during use as pressure decays. The noise is most audible when you first turn the ignition on as the pump tops up the reservoir, and can be heard again at intervals presumably based upon frequency of brake use when you are driving especially at slow speeds. What he said above...
Fuel pump is underneath nearside footwell... Do C4s have a pump related to the 4WD system?
