Noisy Power Steering

Can anyone help please.
My power steering is still noisy (pump end not rack). I have tried the lock to lock with the resevoir cap off solution and it hasn't made any difference. Does anyone know the next thing to try? Or is it check your wallet time?[]
Cheers,

Fred,

When do you notice the noise?? Saying that it's the pump end sounds like you're suggesting that you hear the noise all the time rather than when you steer. If the fluid level is OK - I'm sure you would have checked that - then it suggests that it's the pump itself that's causing the noise.

I'm not aware of anything (else) you can do - there is no other specific maintenance as far as I know. 'Spose it could be a noisy belt.

Regards

Dave

Dave,
The noise can be heard when stationary or at low speed when turning the steering wheel. Have ruled out the belt as the noise is only there when turning the wheel rather than all the time. Listening with head out of window noise is definitely coming from the engine compartment. I think this is a problem caused by the car sitting in the garage for long periods and not being used as often as it should be. Had the same problem with the power steering pump on the 944.
Anyway, thank you for replying.

All Quiet on the Western Front.
Jacked the front of the car up, started the engine, a few rapid lock to locks on the steering and it appears to have bled the system. If someone could send me £50 worth of unleaded I will take it out for a run.[:)][:)]

Cheers,

Shirley the Germans will be dancing on the Western Front by now.

Often go from lock to lock when coaching rowing crews; hope to see you on the water some time. Give us a wave if you go through Marlow lock.

Bob

PS I put the £50 of unleaded in a wine bottle and threw it overboard. Hope its not corked when it reaches you.

Checking all the bottles that go floating by, haven't come across the one from you yet.
Shirley is a strange name for a German![:)]
Cheers,
