Non Aircon Heater CCU needed

Lee,

Be VERY careful when you're looking for one of these, Lee. Quite apart from the obvious differences between the a/c version and the non-a/c version, there are also differences between model years. The pre-91 cars had a slightly different unit which will not work without some modification in a post-91 car. Also, the LHD units are mirror reversed when compared to the RHD units.

Lee,

See the attached for the various part numbers. Cabs use the same parts as Coupes and Targas (and Speedsters)

Cheers Dave

Looks like I need the 6th one down 964 659 045 01.

Therefore the one currently on ebay 964 659 045 00 is for an earlier model.

Hi Dave

Sorry to bother you again.

Just looked at my unit and it has the pre 91 number on it. when my car is a 92. God this is getting very confusing!!!!

I have just spoke to a company in the US who refurbishes these unit for £250 plus postage. They also come with a life time guarantee.

I think this seems reasonable. But now have the issue that it may not be the correct unit.

Lee,

There is no information that I can find that would indicate a problem in using an early unit to run in a late car - the only problem I know of is the other way around - running a late unit in an early car.

The later (993) units are not wired correctly for the earth on the left hand blower and it's necessary to make a wiring change to make it work but AFAIK, there is no problem using the early CCU in a later car.

Keep us informed how you get on and who you use in the US.

Regards

Dave

Yeah will do.

Just need to either keep looking on Ebay (one on at the minute for £320) or bite the bullet and send mine of to the US.

Just remind us Lee....are you 100% certain that your CCU is at fault? i.e. have you tried a correct CCU from another car and got everything to work? It would be bad news if you bought a used one or had yours refurbed and found that the problem hasn't been solved.

Hi Steve

All i get is full front and rear blowers with no control over direction or speed. The little fan does not start up either on the back of the uint.

I did get hold of a unit with Air con and tried that.

It would allow me to change the speed of the fans but not the direction. Maybe the servos need looking at.

Without a unit or fuse I am getting hot air through the dash vents.

I should be coming down to Curborough so maybe i'll hang on before I make any decision.
Hopefully if some of you guys have 5 mins I could pick your brains whilst your not on the track if thats ok.

regards lee
