Non-Michelin Tyres

Has anyone used tyres other than Michelin Diamaris? I have 275/40 R20Y tyres on my Cayenne S which once again need replacing and I was considering an alternative such as Pirelli (£225) or Goodyear (£160), compared to Michelin at £245. Prices are fitted/inclusive of VAT. I was particularly wondering if there was a noticable impact on day-to-day road handling with different rubber. Thanks.

Have had Pirelli & Continental sport in 20" on my KN and in evry day running found no difference. I suspect that the Michelin will be a slightly harder compound & the Pirelli the softest as they certainly didn't last anywhere near the milage of the Continentals.

As an aside, I have recently had fitted General Grabber UHP in the same size, they have an M&S marking so although not a full winter tyre should have some benefits when the cold comes. I have to say that since fitting they have been excellent, although a slightly softer side wall, grip in wet & dry is as good as the others. Best off is the price £520 all in fitted, so even if they only last 2/3rds of the others its still 2 sets for the price of 1.

Yes I know they are not NO or N1 rated and I have checked with my insurer & they have no problems with using them. Its a bit of an experiment really but thought that this was a good time of year to try it out.

I have said it before - you get what you pay for!
On Alscoob's point I wonder what Porsche's view on non N rated tyres might be ?
We probably all know.

Quite honestly I dont care what Porsche view is on non N rated tyres... the way these trucks chew through tyres is pretty poor even with a correct geometry set up. In any case given the terrible level of service at rediculous cost I experienced with my OPC it will never go anywhere near one again.

Since my first factory fitted tyres wore out at 8K I switched to Bridgestone Turanza ? and have not looked back.

Another thumbs up for the Turanzas. But as mentioned elsewhere, I have Michelin winter tyres which will see me through another season having done about 12k already (and were secondhand off ebay to start with, albeit hardly used).

As matter of interest, could you tell me what sort of mileage you get with the Bridgestone Turanzas compared to the Michelins?
Thanks.

Just changed the fronts, backs still as new more or less and they did abt 20K.
I do not push it but to be fair the originals did a couple of trips to the Alps.

Checked the files and the Turanzas are averaging 15k (fronts obviously take most of the punishment).
