Non Standard colours

So I'm going to view a non-standard coloured car. It was done a long time ago and shows 11 years of useage/ wear and tear.
What's the general concensus on this, does it affect the value, any strong opinions either way..??

Some kind of Met silver grey..on the photo's it quite suites the car IMHO.

Congrats to Burriana..

Yes it affects the value as a repainted car has lost some originality, but then if you buy it cheap(er) because it's been repainted then you can sell it cheap(er) too, so in real terms it has little or no effect. Will depend on the job and of course the original colour, if and where it still shows and what the quality of the car is, not just in paint terms but across the board.

My car has had paint and is due a lot more, show me a 23 year old car that hasn't been painted, but then all the work is in the original colour so slightly different story. My next one (few years away yet) will end up with a colour change, as they didn't do the colour I think I want on the SC, but that will be a bare-shell track car job, so no old paint left anywhere.

I love the original colours the SC came in, some great period shades, but lots of more modern colours really suit the SC/3.2 shape too. Gunmetal is one that, had it been available at the time, would have been a huge seller IMO.

Hope you get the luck Al seems to have had David - really hope it's a nice one

Most people prefer originality. Any deviation can reduce values, although there are always exceptions.

My first 911 was an un-spoilered '83 SC, bought from Tim Nicols at the old Malaya Garage in Billingshurst. Slate Blue metallic and still one of my favourite colours - would look great on a 997.

Unless the car is concours I cant see that the colour is going to make the car more or less desirable with in reason. There are lots of 20+ years old Porsches that are nowhere near original. The way I see it is that it is your car do what you want with it and enjoy it.
There is too much snobbery about what you should and shouldnt do.

Congrats to Burriana..

Thanks Dave!

Didn't notice earlier as I normally stick to the 3.2 forum ... but I'm on the hunt for rear child seat info!
