took 944 out the weekend lovely drive no problems then next morning wouldnt start engine turns over but not firing looked at fuel pump fine changed relay any advice thanks

if you crack a fuel line does it spray or dribble? It should be at about 4bar pressure - so when you first crack it, it should spray out. After that there is a volume/flow check to see if you have adequate fuel delivery - that the tacho is bouncing suggests the crank sensor is working, so you have the input necessary for fuel and spark.

Loads of info on clarks garage website.
Check the usual though spark, coil injectors voltage, immobiliser, ecu for a known good one, earths could be a multiple of things but as she was running it can't be to bad, but then again mine was running then the ecu went.

check you have plenty of fuel in the tank. If its very low you may not be getting sufficient fuel pressure. If the car is not used much your injectors could be sticky . Do a search on '944 no start' plenty of previous threads on this.

Suggest you check you have a strong spark when cranking
Check you have 12v+ to terminal 30 of the DME relay socket (ignition on or off)
Remove the plugs after cranking and check they have fuel on them .
No joy ?

Make up a 3xwire bypass cable and use it to replace your DME relay. (see Clarks Garage workshop manual)
Put one spade connector into terminal socket 87b .The second in socket 87 the third spade connector into socket 30 .
Your pump should run now continuously and you should have a spark when cranking the engine.

did you get it sorted? as mine has just done the same [X(] Have replaced DME Relay and coil but still nothing

yes i took off 1of the injectors and started running on three i changed feul pressure regulator which i orded off europarts cost of 59.00 solved the problem easy to replace
