I will be out of action for the next few days as I am having an eye operation tomorrow (Friday), to fix a problem that has been with me for a few weeks. Hopefully everything will be straightforward and I will be back soon. Those who know me will be aware of how much I am looking forward to it (NOT!). Thanks to all of them for their concern and support.

Unlike the Porsche, I have extended warranty on myself, so hopefully it should be more comfortable thanks to PPP Heathcare. So if you don't get a reply from me, you'll know what's going on. I haven't done a "Fab" on you (R19's will know what I mean).[;)]

Hi Richard,

We'll be thinking of you ... hope it goes as comfortably as those things can tomorrow and we wish you a speedy recovery.

Martin.

Hi Richard

PPP, excellent private health care and good payers. Dealt with them a lot when I was MD of my Ltd physiotherapy company. Hope all goes well and you are back in the saddle fighting fit.

Regards Alan

Thank you to everyone for the support here, by email, text and phone - it is much appreciated.

Well, I'm back - sort of. I had the operation last Friday, which went well. I am a real wimp when it comes to anything like this, so I had visions of them dragging me into theatre kicking and screaming, but I surprised myself and it was all quite calm. For those who want to know, they performed a vitrectomy and fixed where a blood vessel was leaking with laser and cryo. I'll leave it at that, for those who are like me and go all wobbly at the gory details. The result is that the vision in my left eye is a bit like looking through a bowl of consomme at the moment, which should clear over the next few weeks but is better than the beef broth last week.

The extended warranty worked well, and the situation changed instantly from a potential waiting list to "can you come in on Friday morning" as soon as medical insurance was mentioned. Completely wrong morally, but very welcome.

Working with one eye has it's challenges, and I don't feel comfortable driving yet, but I'm getting there. Like I said, thank you to everyone for the support - and Nick - it was no holiday!

They didn't say "Sorry Sir, I'm afraid eyes aren't covered under the warranty" then [:D]

Glad you're back to keep an eye on things...OK that's enough, welcome back!

...

No ... all was OK ... it turned out to be a leaky RMS, rather than general 'wear and tear' and as Richard is still young enough and hasn't done more than 120,000 miles he got it on the insurance.

Roll on the day you're driving again ....
