Fred A few will be arriving Friday afternoon, I will be popping over to the Hotel to meet everyone around 6pm.[:)]

Hello People,

Anyone got any plans for driving up to the hotel?

I will be at Lancaster (Forton) Services hopefully from 10:30 to 11:00 on Friday morning. From the services it is approx an hour and a quarter to the hotel

Spoke to Mac (of macandsue fame), hence the change to the Friday morning. Rather than driving straight to the hotel we will turn off the M6 at J43 onto the A69. At Greenhead we will be going onto the Military Road (B6318) which runs alongside Hadrian's Wall. There are plenty of places to get a bit to eat and a coffee along this road. Probably drive to Chollerford, turn around, drive the Military Road and back onto the A69 and M6 to J44 to drop down to the hotel.

Anyone wishing to join us please post on here, if you have any better ideas please make them known.

Posted in R18 area of the forum but invitation is open to all.

Cheers,

Hello Mike, See my first post for the changes. We will be doing the B6318 (just to test the suspension on the car you understand!) Cheers,

For a good drink leave the hotel turn left and walk 150 yards past the traffic lights. Across the road there are a few restaurants/take aways : Indian, Pizza and Chip shop. Next door is a pub called the Hourglass, good atmosphere and good lager/beer/wine [:D] Would love to join you but we are away in Germany in the 944's on our yearly week away from tomorrow. [:)]

Hello Martin, I think everyone will be staying in the hotel bar as people will be arriving at all sorts of times. Mind you, I wouldn't mind sneaking an Indian takeaway back to my hotel room for Friday's tea. Enjoy Germany in the 944. Cheers,

Plans have changed so see first post as to the current plan. (Nothing set in stone!) Possible plan, Penrith to Alston, Chollerford - Roman Road - hotel https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/89523430/Penrith-Chollerford-Carlisle.jpg length = 81 miles Cheers,

Had a run today to Hartside Top cafe (MX5 battery needed charging up a bit) and going the 'non motorway' route from J35 (Truckhaven) it took two hours to the cafe. So in theory we get to the cafe at 13:00hrs, it is obviously be quicker if we take the motorway all the way up to Penrith. However working on the principal that we have all day and there is nothing on fire the 'non motorway' is a pleasant drive (apart from the 15 minutes it took to get from one side of Kendal to the other. (We could always call in at Parker & Parker so that Zeb could either change his tyres or his car!). Home made Chicken Curry at the cafe was rather nice. The view was a spectacular grey cloud. Couldn't see naff all. Cheers,

The weather is looking great for tomorrow.. Enjoy your trip up. What time are you expecting to be at Hartside? Would love to have an excuse to nip up there.

I'll have you know Hindle these tyres are new so I'm expecting at least 3 months out of them!!! [;)]

Sadly ,we'll be leaving Formby around 12 noon going to our Daughters via the same route from Greenhead to Cholerford-then cross country heading North East to Belsay & so to Whalton so won't even see any of you enroute-have a great weekend.[&o] ay

Hello BarryN, If all goes according to plan (fat chance!) we should be there about 13:00 on the 9th. I would imagine we will be leaving there probably before 14:00. Good excuse for a run so we may see you there. Cheers,

Only one image from Saturday.

Great roads, fab to meet everyone.

An update on Tim's Boxster s that is at OPC Kendal. Bolt has sheared from the IMS this is result of the Bearing Failure,[:(] His engine requires a lower rebuild. He has 3 options lets Kendal rebuild the Motor, or Hartec to do a Bullet proof job[:-] or goes down the Route looking for a Used 3.2 motor, The 987 Boxster we have found out today runs a smaller IMS Bearing they increased the Bearing size 06 onwards[] On a more pleseant note i would like to thank all members that made the weekend possible it was a great turnout. PS Hope Fred has got his 964 back safely and i hope you get it sorted soon.[;)] Cheers Mike

Hello Mike and Others, Strangely enough had a very pleasant journey back home with the 964 on the flatbed. I got the best mpg return I have ever had out of the car! I have a chap coming tomorrow morning to see what the problem is. What I want is to get the car running and then fit another immobiliser once it is running. Anyone have any recommendations, the chap coming is both a Cobra and an Autowatch fitter. I hope Tim gets his car sorted, he must be gutted as it is such a lovely looking machine. (If his bribes had been better it would have been an R18 concours winner by now). As to the weekend, it was absolutely brilliant. I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and a major 'thank you' to John and his team of helpers. I don't think anything had been overlooked. I think everyone thought that it should be an annual event. I will be putting my name down as soon as the next one is annouced, hopefully with a more reliable immobiliser on the car. Once again thank you John. Cheers, (p.s. Anyone see what happened to the bottle of wine I won?)

Fred ,have you checked the wiring connection block under the dash to RH of steering wheel, normally taped onto the thick wiring loom-this is where the OPC's broke into the system when the Hamilton & Palmer alarm /immobiliser was fitted -the Lucar connectors can become loose & fall off so that when you put the special key into the cowl, there are no bleeps & no running engine>

High attrition rate this weekend! Hope Tim gets his P&J fixed soon, I was gutted for him. Send him my regards Mike Agree with Fred, thanks to John and all the others who contributed to a great weekend. Mr.Nightingale...you are still the PCGB route planner undefeated champion!!

Thanks to all concerned for a brilliant weekend, especially John, without whose enthusiasm the event may not have occurred. It certainly makes it clear to us that PCGB is alive and well and doing a lot better than just kicking in the Northern Regions. Roll on next year. We can hardly wait. Where do we sign up ?

Quick update regarding the car. The auto-electrician chap came this morning. I was still making the brews when I heard the car burst into life. Took him all of fifteen minutes to get it going. He is going to sort out an alarm / immobiliser and we will arrange a time to have it fitted. So as a celebration I'm off this afternoon for a ride on the Silverwing. Great weekend, great people, but should have taken the MX5![:D] Cheers,
