Norway 2012

Following on from the request for more info and pictures from our holiday to Norway in June of this year:

We needed to get the Cayman packed ready for the trip down to Harwich to board the DFDS ferry to Esjberg, if you go this route watch the prices as they can increase massively overnight also worth noting the upgrade to the Commodore suites are well worth it as you get nibbles/coffee/beer/wine/breakfast included.

Q. How much can we get in the car? A. Loads for Tracey and a few bits for me!!!! we did fit in the wine though(watch your allowance)!

So we had the overnight trip on board the Dana Sirena Ferry and yes those who decided on the normal accommodation gate crashed the Commodore lounge. We arrived in Esjberg and had a 200mile dash through Denmark to Hirtshals to catch the speedferry to Kristiansand, this has to be one of the weirdest experiences you can have on the sea, this thing runs at over 80kmph and to say a few of the girls hated it would be an understatement!

We arrived in Kristiansand late and stayed at the Yess hotel, this was a budget hotel but nothing is budget in Norway. The following morning we had breakfast and set of on the long journey to our 1st house http://www.novasol.com/p/n19208. This was great accommodation and held all 11 of us in 1 house and even had a pool.

We travelled some great roads but have not kept a list of them so you will have to do some exploring.

We travelled into Bergen amongst the many places visited and travelled on umpteen ferries.

Thanks for looking.

Looks a fantastic trip and superb photos. So almost 4000 miles on the trip? What was it about the ferry that made it such a journey, some of my group doesn't want to do any ferries but that would mean an additional trip through Sweden!!!

Great photos Jon... I think a trip round the Fijords is a must..!! Did you consider driving all the way to avoid ferries..?? Cheers, John.

To be fair John we planned it on purpose with the ferries as a time saver although on the way home we did it slightly different, still had an overnight ferry but then hit the autobahns and stayed in Holland for a night before Belgium and the eurotunnel home.
