Norway (again) and Milan

Planning 2 trips this summer ...

First one is to Norway, via Harwich -> Hook of Holland, via Germany & Denmark, ferry from Denmark to Norway. Return across Norwegian mountains to Stavanger and ferry back to Newcastle.

Second one is to Milan, via Harwich -> Hook of Holland again, then down through france/germany/luxembourg/switzerland to Milan and back. Planning on speding 3 days each way to enjoy the car and scenery. Any recommendations en-route ? Maybe Furka or Simplon pass (heard the Stelvio is too touristy) ? Is the Porsche museum worth a visit - their web site mentioned only 20 cars ??

Euro-trips are nice - in the right car.

I drove down to Modena at the weekend. Mont Blanc tunnel was reported to be very busy, with long delays, so routed north of Lake Geneva and down through the Simplon. It is pretty good, but the Autostrade to, and around, Milan is pretty boring. Reminded me of the M25!

I think they are stopping the Stavanger - Newcastle ferry service soon so you better get your skates on.

Stopping, or just stopping for this year?
That's right ... DFDS are ending the Newcastle -> Stavanger / Bergen crossing with effect from 1st Sept .. for ever. My return journey is on the 23rd Aug - after that there are only 2 more return trips.
