Nosey neighbours spotting me in my 951

A funny thing happened to me yesterdsay.

I have been wondering why there isnt a specific branch of any Porsche group/club active round here (N.Herts) as the neighbouring villages are littered with Porche. I was at the village school gates and a nice lady we know to chat too says
" see you were driving your Porsche today "

Now you know when you are driving another car not your usual no one is going to recognise you so why bother waving , they just look like you're mad. I had passed this lady earlier on in a village lane and there was no way what soever for her to know it was my car as i've only had it a week.

I then said to her " how did you possibly know that was me did Tracey tell you" she said " no she mentioned you had a new toy but didnt say what it was" ( confirmed by the missus) I said " you must be well observent then" ,
she replies with a smile " no i'm a right nosey cow " .

Anyway, though she drives a people carrier 'by day' it turns out that there is also a G-reg Porsche 911 in a barn/garage somewhere that comes out once or twice a year for a club trip as her and hubbie are both PCGB members , small world !

Some people like to keep an eye on who's coming and going for the sake of neighbourhood safety, but you're right it is a small world!

Hi Mas,

I was in South Herts, and now South Bucks. Forget the region names, they tend to be fairly general and people usually go to several regions, or the one they get on best with. I was in Chiltern region when in Rickmansworth, now I'm in the Chilterns Thames Valley is a bit nearer. London used to be the big 944 meet each month until it was changed to a Saturday. So, go where you're happy. [:)]

It's more difficult to get 944 events together, as we are all over the country, and even abroad. Keep an eye on the "events" faq, and make the effort to travel a bit. There's no excuse not to drive a bit further when the travelling is half the fun! You're pretty well placed for most of the events we have over a year, North Herts is almost the Midlands. [&:]

I am in S. Herts (St. Albans) but I regularly attend the Cambs and Beds R24 meetings, held in Needingworth, near St. Ives. A great bunch on members and a good range of cars from early 911s, 924, several 944s through to 997 GT3RS. Lots of extra meets as well as the 2nd Wednesday monthly ones. You would be most welcome as a guest and I am sure you will want to join the Club after your first meet!

My sister in-laws family live in a tiny village in deepest darkest Hereford, and when we come to visit in the Porsches, the whole village likes to walk past the house 3 or 4 times for a nosey!!
