Cue the music!

(a prize if you can tell me which tune i have in mind and the original artist)

[FONT=Arial"]where have all the posters gone?
off to forums new everyone
mike is lamented but nevertheless
we still all want the fastest CS

where have all the posters gone?
off to the states for a quick sojourn
968.net or rennlist with a splash of dotcom
or stay all cosy with 968uk.com

where have all the posters gone?
968's still the best secret on this for-um
will we ever see those halcyon days
or will it all fade into a distant haze

add your own final verse -- and you are 100% correct, songwriting is completely alien to me!

Paul,

I did think of replying in verse, but it was beyond me! [&:]

I would not get too downhearted too soon. I have been using forums for some time now, and I have discovered that they are like people, they have good days and bad. Even the best of forums have flame wars and bust ups, and this tends to produce mood swings. There is never a guarantee which way they will go, and there is often not much you can do about it, except carry on regardless.

This forum is relatively young, and has a long way to go to reach maturity, so don't give up just yet. It would help if more of the overall membership of the club got on board, but you can't force folk. It will also help when those running it get a bit less precious and learn to relax a bit, but I am hopeful this will happen as they get a bit more confident. The PCGB is a long established organisation, who have been thrust ill-prepared into this whole cyber malarky, and are reacting as you might expect. It will improve.

This 968 forum took off like a rocket, so it's only to be expected that it will have slow patches, I can cope with that. Indeed I'd rather have it that way than that we fall victim to the sort of nonsense that very nearly threatened to ruin 968.net completely.

The other thing I would stress is that this is a CLUB site, and as such should be discussing club matters as well as just cars. I know the old guard gets a bit crusty when topics go a bit off kilter, but hey, its a club and that is also about people getting to know one another. Lighten up! I am quite happy that Stu's 968UK site is a repository of technical knowledge, after all it is only a mouse click away, as of course is the whole cyber world these days.

Besides ... "It's only rock and roll, but I like it" [8D]

In their different ways your replies are most thoughtful and informative -- that is what forums are for -- thank you

paul

ps David, never did get back to you on those tyres -- am trying to wear my existing ones out -- may be in touch again soon.

Where have all the posters gone,
Will I be the only one,
968s still are the best.
So come on all we'll show the rest.

Where have all the posters gone,
Some have gone but not everyone,
We are here but will we last,
We should get in the car and have a blast.

Where have all the posters gone,
The club has upset another one,
Things will change and it will be past,
Let's not lose another enthusiast.

Where have all the posters gone?
Over to Stu's list, every one.
Including some dweeb in a Renault Cup,
Who blazed a Porsche, but he made it up!
