URGENT THIS WILL GO OUT TO OTHER REGIONS

Novice "" Circuit experience day. APRIL 22nd - 11.30 - 17.00 - £35 per head.

ALL "" R 4 organised event.

The format for this event you will be given a couple of sighting laps following an instructor. You will then have an instructor in your car with you for a few laps to show you at what points to brake & turn for the corner then when to increase power.

You will be on the track for your allotted time with only one other car on the course at the same time. This other car will be on the opposite side of the circuit with almost one-minute separation. This is to abide with insurance requirements & prevent any incidents.

The site of this new car testing facility is at Blyton just north of Gainsborough (DN21 3PE) in Lincolnshire. This track is not registered for racing it is solely a testing facility & now offers the use of three alternative circuits within the complex, all finished to a high standard with newly laid tarmac.

Gavin Marshall our regional ex racing driver is happy to do the instruction free of charge. There will also be another driving instructor available to help.

This is a great opportunity to learn about your car & gain valuable handling & driving knowledge regarding your own car. You will only need to drive at a pace you feel comfortable with; it's a learning day!

This event is not restricted to Region R4. I am looking for thirty people who fancy the thrill without the pressure of driving alongside more experienced track-day drivers.

The cost has been negotiated to a very low amount at £35 per driver. This will include all instruction & at least two sessions on the track. Limited to thirty cars / drivers on first come basis.
On site for that day there will be catering facilities which will provide hot / cold snacks & beverages. There are viewing areas available for those who wish to spectate, all welcome.

If you fancy doing this event then please contact Gavin Marshall who is taking the bookings & will send a booking form by e "" mail. E-mail receipt will be sent.
All cheques made out to Porsche Club GB R4.

Richard, Really sorry but we will be unable to attend as the date clashes with a Supercardriver weekend to Wales and a Porscheclub event in Llandudno which we have already committed to. Gutted to miss this and hope you can arrange another similar event later in the year that we can attend. Best wishes, Mark & Alison

Anyone considering going to the Blyton novice introduction day, places are limited to 30 cars. I now only have 7 places remaining (subject to cheque in the post). Don't miss out this excellent opportunity to get familiar with your car on a closed environment. This comes with free tuition and instruction, so no need to worry about not knowing the circuits. Contact myself ASAP for entry form, spectating is free and anyone fancy lending a hand with very simple flag marshaling, we would be greatful of the help. Come along and enjoy the day, even if your not intending to participate, it would be nice to see a good attendance. I have booked the sunshine! Gavin

Typical - the one event I would like to do clashes with the Cape to Cape Tour start date and Carolyn and I will be in NW Scotland. Can we have another date, please? Regards Brod.

Brod, Sorry about the clash, we didn't get much notice for this cancellation. We will see how this one goes, we haven't got enough entries to pay for the circuit hire yet and may make a loss on the day. If it works well, we will try to arrange another one although this price is unlikely to be repeated due to short notice and that this was a circuit taster session. You missed a fine display there last week, ex works 308GTB Mille Miglia car, 275 GTB (est £4m), Escort RS BDG engined and Bill Gwynne instructing. Gavin

Hi Gavin, I'll be coming along so very happy to flag. Not sure if Sylvia can make it yet Rod

Entry has closed for Blyton Park, If you are too late, contact me in case we have a cancellation. only 26 drivers, a bit disappointing for 3 regions especially at the price, but hey-ho! Final instructions, directions and timings will be sent out Wed/Thurs.

Just to say what a cracking day out Many thanks for everyone's help. Some excellent tuition from Gavin and Mike. This is the real reason why we own porsches......to drive them like we did today! Thanks Graeme

Yep, could'nt agree more. Many thanks to Richard and Gavin and else working behind the scenes to have made today work. Blyton was just right for the event. It was nice to get some of the PSM and ABS working in a safe environment, get some feel for drift and carry some corner speed. Really, really enjoyed today, many thanks.

Came down from Bridlington to take a look at this event - absolutely excellent. Am back at Blyton with Tour Britannia later this year and it should prove ideal for their needs. Any news as to when next day is likely to be as would definitely give it a go? Andrew W.

To everyone that turned up for our Blyton Park event, many thanks for making it a very special day; I believe we can call it a success. I am sorry I didn't get chance to speak with anyone, although I did spend an awful lot of time talking loudly. The weather held off nicely apart from the brief shower early on and the track offered lots of grip and plenty to ask of the car/drivers. For me, it is always a pleasure when a driver feels more comfortable or achieves something they didn't think they could by the end of a session. I am quite sure lots of you were able to play quite safely on an excellent circuit without the fear of track furniture; as peter our sole spinner and longest traveller will agree. To Richard Usher, thanks for letting us use your circuit and for making us feel thoroughly at home. Richard RO, thanks for trusting our instincts to go with this, despite the financial risks and sleepless nights. To Cliff and Rod, what a stirling job you both did marshaling alone for hours, we would not have been able to do this without you. Finally Mike, our guest instructor, Great job. I bet you have never had to work so hard on the track, now we need to see more of you at some of our other events as a regional member.

Novice – Circuit experience day. Hi Gavin. I would echo all the good responses made by the other members. A big thank you to all of those who organized and helped at this event. This is just the type of event I and other members need to gain the confidence to have a go at a full track day. The tuition and organization was excellent. Blyton Park is exactly the right type of track to do this, I believe that had sufficient time been available to publicize the event numbers would have been higher, although not necessarily better for those taking part. Please try and repeat with the same or similar format even if it does have to cost a little more! I also think this type of event should be oranganised by the Club, and not left to the RO and his helpers. Absolutely first class. Mike Green 964

Still thinking about the great day had by all at Blyton, Gavin, Lynn wants to say thank you for your understanding and great tuition, she went from a nervous wreak to wanting more days like this. Thankyou for giving her that bit of confidence.( I think I have now lost the car to her but she wants me to change it for a better colour!!!). Looking forward to meeting some off you on Wednesday at the pub.

Hi Everyone, As the 'sole spinner' I'd like to echo everyone else's words - great day to learn about our cars in an enjoyable, safe and friendly environment knowing they are not insured!! And yes I did learn at first hand what they mean about the 80s turbo - if you lift off in a corner they'll bite you! Eternally grateful for the fact that there was no scenery to swallow the car..... Thanks everyone for a great day, we do have cars with awesome capabilities, even 25 year old ones! Peter

A big "thank you" to everyone involved in the day, especially Mike and Gavin who spent their day hoping from car to car. It was great to be able to explore the limits of the car with an expert on hand to give some guidance and I can certainly say I learn a lot! Also many thanks to R4 group members for their hospitality in holding such a well organised event, I'd love to come again if you run another event and I'm sure others from R7 would be interested Many thanks, Tony Link attached http://youtu.be/LgoChZR3hGg
