Novice Mountain Biking

First weekend of the month is coming around next weekend. Kelvin has already said he is up for it and Ravi expressed an interest. Anybody else want a gentle introduction to the pleasures of off road cycling around the Brickhill woods ?

Would Sunday morning be easier for people ? Happy to ride on Sunday next weekend if it works. Post your interest here and we will sort out dates/times etc.

Hi folks

Would love to join you all for a GENTLE intro to the dark arts of mountain biking around Brickhill Woods....or should that be Bricking It Woods [&:]......Unfortunately away all next weekend (honestly !) so will have to try another time.

Ravi

As a result of speaking with Graham tonight, anybody reading this is invited to a Novice and Family hour pedal around Brickhill woods tomorrow morning.

The requirements are only a bike and the willingness to "have a go". This will not be an attempt to take you into danger or do anything daft / massively strenuous...so please do come along !

If you are interested, then meet up at the top of the Church Road hill in Aspley Heath - its basically where the road runs out !

Look out for friendly region 10 folks.

Map is here

Time ? From 9:15-9:30 am

Rgds

I need to get myself a mountain bike and join you guys. I used to do a lot of road riding a few years back (6 miles to work), but dem narrow wheels will be no good on the muddy stuff []

I joined the MTBK group last Saturday morning on the promise that they would treat me as a beginner and be happy to wait fro me however I got on.

I REALLY enjoyed myself and am hoping to join the guys regularly from now on.

The Woburn woods is one of the best places to ride in the UK and there is something for everyone - whatever their level.

So Graham, Andy & Steve do I get my 15 minutes of fame you promised me ? How about the "Steve's Sandy Step-Off" corner ?

So same time this Saturday guys ? I'm up for a repeat if you are.

Welcome to the team Steve - it was really great to have you along and look forward to you joining us at as many events as you feel up to.

We're not that mad (are we?) and what we're trying to do perhaps, is organise something gentle for the families as well as the more committed.

So, next up ? 24th September - South Downs Way - Return of the Region

43.4mph to beat.

Thats what I like to see Brian gentle encouragement for beginners and families..[:D]

Thanks for the write up Steve E.

Ravi, Kelvin anyone else for this Saturday ?

How's the hand Steve?
I think they say it normally takes about 6 weeks for the bones to mend. At least that's what they told me after I broke my collar bone while mountain biking.

P.S. I've got my extreme sports insurance sorted for my mountain biking holiday.
[:D]

Sorry Graham [8|]

If we do Sunday, we have to consider...
  1. F1 is on...
  2. Pub of the Month with the region (Sue organising ?)
Wouldn't be ideal to roll in the Region 10 pub of the month outing to be at the end of an interesting pedal, and that the venue had a large TV so we could watch the F1 ?

Sometimes, I really wished I could find an alternative venue to MK for all these weekend pedals (but I cannot, I have tried)..extra time in bed...quicker to get home...mutter mutter fuss fuss..[X(]

Welcome back ! Glad to see you are now in training for the hills. (The lengths some people go to to get a gold star...)[;)]

Anyhow, hand was "sort of" fixed for the L2B on June the 19th. So right now, I'm guessing it's as strong as it ever will be. Looking forward to all the outings we can muster.

Sorry Kelvin - can't do this Sunday I am afraid.

Keen to do Saturday though, 9.00 am OK with everyone ? I will mail the other non forum MKTB members ..

9am Sat. is good for me (may be able to do Sunday if majority prefer - consious I'm the newbie so just let me know),
