.... to be strapped to the back on an exocet missle. ...picked up my 996TT from Lancaster Aston Martin Reading today.

I thought the 997S i had was a quick car, but this in an altogether different dimension.

Literally have to hang on to the steering wheel, while all of my internal organs get crushed against my spine.

Brakes take a bit of getting used to , very little travel in them, and the 968 brakes feel even better, but then its got the same size brakes and also wearing 888's, but decelerating from much slower speeds, and the 968 steering is slightly sharper, but overall, what a car! The best porsche i've had yet.

X50 upgrade is 450hp (not 500) but still whaaahooo warp thrust.

yes... keeping the licence is top priority!

you're right the X50 is 450, but this has had the Manthey Tuning K480 done by JZM, which is 480, and supposedly the exhaust adds about 15. Also nearly 700nm torque... EEK!


 
well I know what you feel, although mine is "just" an maverick missile - no x50 here, just the "normal" 420hp.

Still its a heck of a car. I find it very familiar the thing you said about holding to the wheels while the internal organs are happily crushed against the seats... glad I have sport seats, they "just" get crushed, they dont wooble while being crushed :)
 
That's 3 owners in the last week I have heard about do the the 'upgrade' from a 997S to a 996TT. What's going on ???

I recently drove the 997S on the Elivington runway on the 'invitation to drive' and after the turbo (996) I must say it did feel lacking in thrust.....

If this trend continues perhaps we might start to see residuals hardening up, well you live in hope......... but I agree the 996 TT is a great car.

The 996TT is as above the bargain supercar at the moment..
However, I still don't see it offering the same level of driving involvement as the 997..

Its certainly quick though [8D]

Some people like turbos, others prefer normally aspirated.

turbos deliver a huge wallop through a narrow power range (hence the need for 4wd to transmit that power to the road without braking traction), whereas the non-turbos have a more linear performance through a wider power band.

If you take a GT3 and a TT there isn't much difference in the performance, just different ways of achieving it.
