NOW SOLD

Unfortunately I have to sell my 944 S2 due to a change in circumstances. I have tried to cover everything in the text and photos below but please feel free to contact me if you have any questions etc using the numbers / email below.

I am genuinely gutted to have to let it go - hopefully that comes across in the advert - and would prefer the car to go to an enthusiast so am offering it here before listing in the usual places.

OVERVIEW:

Make: Porsche
Model: 944 S2
Year: 1989 (F plate, first registered Feb 89 at Lancaster Porsche in Colchester)
Mileage: 146k

Asking Price: NOW SOLD

1989 Porsche 944 S2 in one of the classic 944 combinations of Baltic Blue metallic paint with Linen leather interior. Fully documented history, including full Porsche service history to 103k miles.

Owned since October 2012 as a 2nd car and used regularly for both long distance and daily driving. I purchased the car from Porsche specialist JMG Porsche in Bournemouth, where it underwent extensive reconditioning following purchase, and have had the car regularly and exclusively serviced by leading independent marque specialists ever since. The car is stored in my dry garage.

The car has no MOT and is currently on a SORN. Due to relocating to central London, where I only have one parking space, it is not practical for me to keep it and I don't have the time to have it repaired at the moment so unfortunately I have decided to sell. The car will need a new front balljoint, handbrake adjustment, and welding repairs to the underside of the car for the MOT, however I am no expert so any buyers are welcome to inspect the car for themselves beforehand. I have taken a photo of the MOT test sheet which outlines the issues.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION:

Being an S2 the car is fitted with its original 3.0 litre 16 valve 208hp engine which has covered 146k miles (c. 5.5k PA) and still pulls strongly and smoothly through all the gears, equally happy cruising at motorway speeds or tackling B roads. The cambelts were replaced in June 13 at 141k miles at JMG Porsche.

The engine had extensive work in Nov 13 at Steve Bull Porsche costing £2.8k to cure an oil leak. The engine is oil tight with pressures exactly as they should be reading c. 5 bar under acceleration, dropping to c. 3 bar at idle - video available. Braided fuel lines were also installed at the same time.

The gearbox/clutch was reconditioned in June 2013 at JMG Porsche. Gear change is precise and light.

EXTERIOR:

Finished in subtle Baltic Blue metallic the body presents well despite a stone chip to the nose which was resprayed in 2013 to remove previous stone chips! There is corrosion to the rear arches and on the edge of the sills. One of the sills was replaced in 2010 at JMG, the other is original. There is also a bubble where the front bumper joins the front wing on the nearside. The rear Porsche logo script was removed in 2012 when I had some touch ups done around the rear number plate.

A new and correct top tint windscreen (including fitted radio aerial) was installed in 2014 due to a minor stone chip.

INTERIOR:

Interior of the car is in very good original condition fitted with leather Linen Comfort seats. There is some cracking to the driver's side but the passenger and rear seats are near immaculate.

The dash was replaced in 2013 and has no cracks. The digital clock also works perfectly.

Carpets present well, as do the door cards, and are protected by a matching set of genuine black Porsche script over mats which complement the cream carpet / black dash nicely.

ELECTRICS / BATTERY:

New BOSCH S3 battery fitted in March 2015 which has been maintained on a CTEK battery charger.

All electrics work as they should including electric windows, mirrors, seats, sunroof, and clock.

Brand new genuine Porsche engine cooling fan relay (944.615.104.04) fitted in 2014 at cost of £161.

Thatcham approved TOAD AI-06 alarm immobiliser professionally installed by approved installer in 2013.

WHEELS & TYRES:

Car is fitted with the correct and original 16inch D90 alloys. No curbing but they would benefit from a refurb as they have lost their shine.

All 4 wheels are shod in matching Continental ContiSportContact tyres that were fitted in June 13 at 141k miles and have plenty of tread in them all round.

SERVICE HISTORY:

The car comes with an extensive fully documented history from new with all servicing up to 103k at the supplying Official Porsche Centre in Colchester. There is also an accompanying comprehensive A4 folder full of bills and receipts covering all work / parts since from 75p bulbs to £2.8k services.

The last service was in August 2014 at Steve Bull Porsche and included an oil change at 143k miles.

The all-important belts were last changed in Jun 2013 at 141k miles.

As above agree totally, projects in worse condition are selling higher. it will be snapped up. Id personally adjust the price. these are wanted machines. If I didn't have two on the go at the mo id buy it now.

I also have to agree with the previous two posters that this seems undervalued. Also have two on the go , otherwise the proverbial hand would have been snapped off.

I think that's a fair price for a quick sale considering it is not MOT'd and does require work. You could price it slightly higher but then it would take time to sell. Good luck with the sale.

Tom is looking for an S2 so I'd like to view it, I can bring cash and a trailer........................ Tom has been after one for a while and it's for genuine ownership (many of you know him) not just quick turn around. Gerry

Nice looking car and good value, however, is that rust coming through replacement cills or has the photos not captured the jacking point indicator?

That looks ridiculously cheap! Aside from the NSF wing not looking right where it joins the badge panel it looks very good in the pictures. I guess you never know till you view it, and there's not a lot of detail on mechanical work over the last few years, but worth checking out at that price.

Oooo.... Wing does look a bit suspect. Terrible in the angle it's photographed at. Corner of badge panel looks slightly pushed back and colour on bumper doesn't match. Has had a minor shunt on that corner to be sure. Certainly spoils the look of the car. Mileage will be a bit scary for a lot of punters as well.

Also - check out the seams, or lack of them, in the sill below the rear of the door. At least with the blue car nothing is covered up. Looks like it has been well cared for mechanically, so should be fixable.

Good spot. The stone chip paint looks wrong as well, and although hard to see it looks like no stoneguard stickers either. Says withdrawn, so probably sold outside of ebay. I wonder if there was a nearby buyer in Scotland who snapped it up?
