Number of RHD 993 Varioram Carreras made?

Anybody know where I could I find the number of UK RHD 993 Varioram Carreras made (2 wheel drive narrow body varioram coupes only - not Carrera 4, S models, Targas, Turbos, or Cabs).

I am guessing the years would be MY1996 and MY1997 only, although perhaps not many were made in MY1997 as Porsche were pushing the S models during that year.

Any help pointing me to a written source or a Porsche contact would be appreciated.

Ian.

Apparently there are also 1998MY 993s. These were built between Aug'97 and Jul '98 and are distinguished by a 'W' in the middle of their serial numbers (as opposed to a 'T' or a 'V' for the '96 and '97 model years respectively).

Apparently also, there were only 780 of these built in coupe form for the whole world excluding US (which I guess could be C2, C4, S and C4S). - That is according to Porsche 911 Red Book 1965-1999, by Patrick Paternie.

No doubt one would be extremely hard pressed to find many UK spec C2s among them.

I appreciate that this bit of trivia, does little in helping you find the answer to your question, but I thought I'd throw it in anyway. [:)]

Thanks for that bit of info. I am assuming you have access to the Red Book which I was going to buy as I thought this might have production numbers down to the level of detail I was after. However I am guessing from your response it does not go into much detail.

Anybody else have an idea where I could find this level of information?

Re Redbook, yes, that's exactly where I was quoting from. I wasn't holding back either, that's about all the granularity it gives you.

Let us know what the answer is. I have been curious about this as well. Maybe you can even talk them into giving you a breakdown by exterior colour and transmission type (ie manual or tiptronic).[;)]

Not had any time to pursue this. I will either phone or write to Porsche Cars GB next.

I think the 96 on narrow body rear wheel drive cars might be rarer than generally thought as Porsche were pushing the other models more and more as the range came to an end. I have noticed that you very rarely if ever see a narrow body varioram two wheel drive for sale.

I think you are right about the relative scarcity of UK-spec manual C2 varioram coupes. There seem to be plenty of tips, S's, 4's, cabs and targas around in comparison.
