Number plates...

Unfortunately, my car came with some rather tasteless (imho) italic number plates, which I want to replace with standard jobbies. Trouble is, they're stuck on with some kind of adhesive tack which is pretty tough and is pulling on the bumper when I give it a tug. Is this common practise or do most of you guys have screw on examples?

It's fairly common.

Just warm the sticking points gently with a hairdryer for a few minutes and the adhesive should loosen. I do this for a living and have never had a problem yet (though I have melted a plate when I forgot to remove it [8|])

Thanks Paul, I'm tempted to take the wife out there at 6 in the morning so i can treat her to the same audio experience I'm so lucky to have in bed every morning!

You could also use some fishing line to carefully 'saw' through the adhesive once you've softened it with the hairdryer.

must be a lady thing cos my mrs does the same[]

Is the audio experience followed by a fine mist of hair lacquer clogging up your lungs as well????

Watch out for the hair straighteners GHDS things. My crazy ex use to attack me with those things - Evil witch !

Yes Paul, you're right! i hate that stuff! I don't know what toxic tastes like but I imagine it's not much different to hairspray!
