Numbers and Letters on Auto Gear Selector

I'm trying to figure out the best way to reinvigorate the numbers and letters on my auto gear selector in the car. The white markings are now very faint.

I wondered if a decal would be the best option? What do people think?

Any other suggestions to bring the markings back to their former glory?

(oval dash model).
