Came across this interesting site which uses the data from DVLA to compare the number of any each car make and model still on the road..

http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/

From this it shows that there are 1,993 Cayman & 4,341 Cayman S, and 17 R's exist compared to 28,490 Boxters, 41,266 Carerra;'s, 11,485 Cayenne and 872 Panamera.

The proportion of Cayman to Carerra is steading rising from 1:16 in 2006 to 1:6.5 in 2011.
The proportion of Cayman + Boxster to Carerra is again rising from 1:1.3 in 2006 to 1:1.18 in 2011.

Unfortunately I cannot upload the spreadsheet into the forum but it makes interesting reading. Clearly the growth in Cayman numbers are affecting the proportion on mid engine to rear engine being sold.

There's been a few posts recently about this site - and the DVLA spreadsheets it feeds from. You can't necessarily believe everything you read on there - for example, not too long ago it was showing only 1 968 tip coupe 1994 still licenced or SORN'd - at a time when there were 2 for sale on PH, one of which was mine!

PORSCHE968 CABRIOLET 102 PORSCHE968 CABRIOLET A 21 PORSCHE968 COUPE 200 PORSCHE968 COUPE AUTO 43 PORSCHE968 CS 89 PORSCHE968 SPORT 187 This is the current info for the 968, I have no idea how the model split works and certainly for the main models the detail seems odd. But for overall numbers it should be a reasonable guide to trends etc. The data for the Cayman again has several areas of cross over particularly for the S, I assume that PDK is in there somewhere but no doubt thats not a designation that is specified on the registration information. DVLA data base is a joke. Always has been. Hey Cayman, Are you at the lights @ Bromley south most mornings about 7:00am ? If so I have sat in the lane the turns left next to you many times. HELLO!.

Thirteeneast, Fortunately not that early. I commute via Elmstead Woods so Cayman sits in garage during the week and only comes out at weekends. There are an increasing number of Cayman around Bromley, whats your colour scheme and I will look out for it.

OK, so 10 Cayman R's for sale on Pistonheads . I assume these are registered ? I own one, Alan Woods another, will the Cayman R prove to be the car nobody wanted which in time may be the new 964RS Touring ? And do I care ? [:D]

Try putting in Porsche 964Rs or 993RS. Only stats from '94 on 993RS --- and I believe all were from 1995 and unless they have all been exported, half the Silverstone Classic cars from last year no longer exist ! [:D]
