Numpty question - headlight beam adjustment

Apologies in advance for the ridiculous nature of this question.

Over the weekend I installed some Halfrauds Extreme Brilliance bulbs which I have to admit are brilliant..! I have also, however, managed to completely bugger my beam pattern.

Is someone able to advise which of the two screws adjusts the distance (top I presume) - which way do I turn to shorten the beam?

Which way do I turn the bottom screw to bring the passenger side beam in from the edge of the road/bushes?

I realise this should be self evident - but it isn't... I turn the screws and nothing seems to be happening.

This is one of those situations where a picture is worth a thousand words!! As you have already realised - albeit too late - is that the adjustment screws need not be touched when removing the headlamp or bulb.

The 2 adjustment screws are very long and are attached to the reflector. They are normal right hand thread so turning the screw in a clockwise direction will pull the reflector nearer to the screw head, turning in an anti-clockwise direction will push the reflector further away from the screw head.

The screw at the top controls the up/down motion of the reflector, the screw at the side does the left/right (as it seems you guessed).

From memory the screws themselves are the best part of 4 inches long and quite a fine thread - so, if you'll pardon the pun, you'll have to screw for quite a while to get anywhere!!

When you remove the headlight you can see how it works, but that's obviously too late once you've put it all back together.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Dave

Thanks Dave - I thought this to be the case... Clearly i've not screwed hard enough - back to her!

Cheers

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]yep, very long screws and ages of screwing it seems (so to speak) until a diference is evident. Adjust on dipped beam when lining up on a wall/board.

What were your bulb specs?
