Just a heads up to let you know the race is on over the weekend. The race is covered via a live stream from the 24hr rennen web site adac.24hr-rennen.de and is covered in english on globecast radio. It's also on the geman satellite channel DSF which can be found on astra at 19 deg east. DSF's programming looks like thisFreitag 22.05.2008 18:30 - 19:45 Uhr ZF 1. Training 22:30 - 23:30 Uhr ZF 2. Training LIVE Samstag 23.05.2008 14:30 - 16:00 Uhr Vorberichte & Start LIVE 20:30 - 22:00 Uhr Aktueller Zwischenstand LIVE Sonntag 24.05.2008 08:45 - 09:30 Uhr Aktueller Zwischenstand LIVE 11:00 - 15:30 Uhr Zieleinlauf & Nachberichte LIVE
very large Porsche contigent including Manthey, Land and Jurgen-Alzen motorsport etc etc. Proper gt racing on the best circuit in the world[:)]
note the times are german so 1 hr ahead of UK time

Thanks for the heads up Laurence.

I've texted my Brother who live 40 mins from the ring. Told him to get himself down there and report back. Looks like a good venue for a future long weekend in das Fatherland.

If your looking for someone to folow then my choice is
22 Richard Westbrook in what amounts to a Porsche works entry!
27 Julian Perry (64 RS owner and ring specialist) in GT3 Cup
Dickie Meaden (another 64 RS owner) in the works Aston

Helpfull hint: if you have a laptop and a tv with monitor in facility you can play the stream direct to your tv with globecast in the back ground for english commentry!

Would love to, all i need is about 1000 laps practice first[:D] Plus international licence or race in VLN to qualify[:(]

1000 laps practice? Easy. Buy a Logitech G25 wheel, buy GTR2 driving simulation, and practice on your PC. Seriously, you will know a lot before you get to the track and be surprised by the quality of the physics of said simulation.

Have a look!

International license... That's harder.

Problem is finding the time to qualify yourself, I had a great drive lined up in a Civic this year that should have been class winning, but just couldnt find the time to requalify myself on the Ring... u have to do 2 or 3 VLN beforehand and/or spend a good part of the week beforehand on the rookie training....
Whilst using the computers to learn which way the circuit goes next is ok, then dont begin to simulate the way you run out of grip properly so you need good seat time if you arent going to be a mobile chicane.
Anyway, my current project was built with 24 hour racing in mind, we are trying to organise the schedule to take in the Britcar 24 at the end of the year and "the powers that be" are keen for us to go onto the Ring in 2009 although I remain to be convinced that is a good use of our resources at the moment given the number of weekends the car has to be risked on the Ring to get a place on the grid.
Not seen any results yet.... as soon as wife realised Ring was no longer on schedule she shipped us all off for a family holiday...
