Nurburgring BB/Hotel Recommendations?

[FONT=verdana,geneva"]Likely to be at The Ring in November and hoping someone who has been there before can help with a couple of questions;

- Recommended hotels/BB's (there are many websites listing them but prefer recommendations)
- Rough journey time from Ostend (or Dunkirk even)
- Best route after passing Liege (anti-/clockwise round or through the Eifel forest/mountains)

Cheers

Hi Marcus,

We stayed in the 'Blaue-ecke Hotel', village centre with pub and restaurant below. It is about 3-4 miles away but gives your car time to warm up before the track!
Was two years ago now so prices may have changed, I do remember it was good value for money!
They also have parking at the rear which is a bonus as some don't have parkign at all.
We went from Dover and did a direct route which took approx 6-7 hours travelling at around 80'ish!

Are ther many of you going?

[FONT=verdana,geneva"]Nice one Steve, thanks.

I think it'll be just me going (or the wife too if she fancies it). It's a closed hire day with RMA Trackdays that I won in a charity auction at Chelsea Legends a few weeks ago. Apparently there will be instructors on hand/retention (of which one is Sabine).

The main focus for me (being my second trackday in the 964 - first will be Curborough) is first understanding or exploring the limits of the car and adapt to them safely then enjoying The Ring second - I've no chance in a million years of ever knowing the circuit properly!

I will definitely check out your recommendation...

I plan to go next year so I'm keen to hear your experiences.

PS I was going to get a PS3 + GT to familiarise myself with the track - I hear its a good way to get to know the course. I'll see you at Curborough, so can probably chat more then.

Cheers, Lee

Hi Marcus,

Best to stay in the Hotel Am Tiergarten, owned by Ursula Schmitz, mother of the legend Sabine !
Her sister, Catherine also runs the hotel. http://www.am-tiergarten.de/en/home/
Nice Bistro Pizza place attached and located in Nürburg village, so 1km from the start of the Green Hell.
We were there for the evening session 2 weeks ago, and it's still intoxicating !
We stayed at the hotel 2 years ago for a nice weekend....and the room overlooked the Nordschleife.....sweet !
If I remember well, it was 70e per night, B&B for 2 people.

Best Rs,

Jon

Thanks Jon,

Great advice and info. I was told about the Tiergarten by RMA who I'll be going with.

I will be keeping an eye on the weather forecast. If it looks dodgy then I might switch the dates to next April.. In the meantime I'm also off to Silverstone next month too.

Cheers

Keep me in the loop......it's 1.25hrs from here, so may pop up to see the group (though if it's a closed track....not much fun for me [8|]).

Best regards,

Jon

[FONT=verdana,geneva"]will do Jon..

It'll be with these guys - http://www.rmatrackdays.com/?id=Silverstone

A free day won at the Chelsea Autolegends charity auction. More keen to see where the car limits are (mine too!) and how to improve technique and handle the things on the edge.. Pro instruction available too which is handy.
