Nurburgring Visit 2009

As published in Porsche Post a couple of months ago we are planning a trip to the ring (were getting cocky now we've been to Le mans 2 years running [:D]) around June time. Looking at a 4 or 5 day trip, I am still waiting for official dates from the folk at the ring which are usually published around now but I have found an unofficial site with what it suggests are the public days, see here;

http://bridgetogantry.com/index.php?option=com_events&task=view_month&Itemid=72&year=2009&month=06&day=03

so I am looking at the last two weeks in June as the period to fit our trip into [:D] and I have emailed the ring for their official dates and will post our start date and finish details on here as soon as I hear from them.

Put a line on here if you are interested and I will keep all of those who have already expressed an initial interest fully appraised of details as I confirm them.

Cheers [;)]

Nick I'm interested as you know, we've booked our 2 week holiday from 26th June so before that in early June would be ok.

See you next Sunday[;)]

We are keen to go Nick - but would prefer later in june rather than earlier - not camping is it ? !!!
Chris

Right folks! I've had this years dates confirmed by the staff at "The Ring" and our trip is going to be May. Junes dates aren't as good, not to mention I can't get the time off work [:)]

Leaving on Thursday the 14th returning home on the Wednesday the 20th.

The plan is to travel down to Dover on the Thursday and stay B&B/Hotel for the night, cross the channel Friday morning, arriving in the locality of "The Ring" Friday afternoon. The weekend is full public access for the whole of the two days and most of Monday, I thought we could have a couple of trips out as well seeing as its such a beautiful part of Germany when the weather good [:D]

I will have some more details about hotels (no camping for you soft lads [;)]) costs etc in time for our meeting on February 11th, if you cant make the meeting I will email those who have expressed an interest as and when I get the details.

Cheers

Lesley and I are also interested in the Nurbergring outing, but don't expect any Nissan GT beating times - we leave that to the expertise of Walter Rohl (sorry if the spelling is incorrect, I can't check that one on a spellchecker!). Like Ashley, we - or rather I - have something else to do end June, so would also prefer early June if that is okay with you and/or the majority. Anyway, it's my birthday on 7th so a trip around then would be appropriate.
Cheers

If it says "Non Member" by your name, you need to confirm your Membership Number and Forum Name to Club HQ (email forum@porscheclubgb.com ) This should be a one-time fix, and will also allow you access to the member-only areas of the Forum.

Skip my earlier reply - I should read all the responses before diving in! Offhand, 14th to 20th May are fine with us, but we might travel to Nurbergring from our place in France and then return with you lot as we will need to cut the grass here as soon as we get back - it's all go! So, we will sort out our own ferry crossings, but latch onto whatever else you are all doing. Anyway, we are definately interested, but will miss the next (February) meeting as we don't return until 16th February. Looking forward to the further e-mails.

[:D][:D] Ian ya daft begger, I wondered what you were talking about with the dates...........

Any hoo! I'm not interested in going to the ring and flogging the life out of my pride and joy and I know most of you that will end up coming with us are of the same frame of mind, I want to go and experience the magic of the ring and put in a couple of laps but I think there is as much to be enjoyed watching others make their way round from the many viewing points not to mention having some drives out in the countyside and enjoying the food and drink of this region of Germany.

Looks like it will be the usual suspects that attend [:D][;)]

We are also still interested in coming Nick - but since it's May, June has to arrange things round her teaching commitments. We may meet you at the 'Ring' hotel and make our own way over in the previous week.
It also depends on the motor being ok (see thread on the 996 forum ! )
Chris

Making some headway with accomodation and can get a good deal with this hotel here;

www.hotel-wilhelmshoehe.de

please take a look, I'm going to need to know numbers asap. I have provisionally booked 5 double rooms so please get in contact to confirm your involvement.

Thanks

If your looking for somewhere else to go while in Germany you might like to try the Sinsheim Auto & Technik Museum.
It has more than 3000 exhibits of planes, trains and automobiles, the largest permanent Formula One collection in Europe, and is the only place in the world where you can see a Concorde and a Concordski. It also has an IMAX 3D cinema.

I think it is about 150 miles down the autobahn from the Ring so you might like to relocate to their hotel for a night as it is definitely an all day thing.

Just a line to say I've had to pay the deposits now, if you are coming I have already contacted you. Unfortunately this months entry in Porsche Post is a little late and I won't be able to take any more bookings (we have been planning it since last autumn) so sorry to disapoint and thanks to all of you who have expressed an interest.

Cheers

What a great trip - thanks Nick for all your hard work in organising the R3 2009 European Tour - and we all got home in one piece (cars included) !!! Got a 4min video of my drive round the 'Ring' to remember it !
Chris

Thanks Chris, yes we were really lucky with the accomodation and weather which helped and well done having the courage to ride the ring [:D], glad every one is home safe and sound.

Cheers
