Called OPC Silverstone yesterday afternoon to get a price for replacement black wheel nuts - they promised they would call straight back, but they've yet to call me back with a price. [&:]

So I called OPC Swindon and spoke to their parts guys. They confirmed parts for 964 and 993 have massively increased recently.

Guess how much they would charge for EACH NUT?

They wanted £7.73 per nut.

That's £154.60 for a set of 20!

I'll be buying them from an independent.

I am led to believe the reason so many of the parts have gone up (some by 200%) is that Porsche need to get themselves cash rich for the impending take over of VW....makes sense!

(this came from a major supplier of Porsche parts to the specialists/independents)

Are these the replacement lightweight nuts?

Be careful as I have had 3 shear when trying to remove them as they had started to bind with the metal of the wheel bolt.

I've replaced all of mine with open ended steel ones which are a bit heavier but stronger, cheaper too.

I usually get them from Jasmine at car shows, £2 each normally.

That's what I was going to say!

They are the alloy ones. OK for most use but need to be replaced if racing.

My nuts are due to be pushed through the letter box by the post lady tomorrow. I'll be listening out for the dull thud as they bounce off the doormat.
