OBC Range Problem....

I've just filled the tank (again!!) and the range display is incorrect. I know why - the first petrol pump I used kept clicking off so I gave up after £5 worth and used a different pump for the rest. True to the owner's manual, the OBC has disregarded the first splash and calculated the range based on the second fill. Not a big drama, just a PITA.

Is there a way to reset the range or get it to recalculate, or will I have to live with it until I fill it up again?

I thought the OBC read the actual tank level, so woudn't have thought it made any difference if you filled it in two hits. Mine is dreadfully optimistic when I fill it. It shows about 330 miles range, but I don't get more than 240-250 before the light comes on. As the tank gets lower, it seems to read more realistic values, and by the time the light does come on it is usually reading a range of less than 50. I don't do many long runs, so that's probably why.

Sometimes turnig the nozzle upsde down helps alleviate this.
Still annoying though isn't it...
 
The miles remaining in the tank display is very optomistic. I see something like 340 and there is no way I can get 340 miles from a tank of gas. I only look at it when the low fuel light comes on. Then I see something like 40-50.
 
I had a similar thing. I put £5 in and the range didn't change (even after driving for a mile). I then put another £5 and again the range didn't change (even after driving for another mile). I then put a third £5 in and only after I'd done a mile or so did the range change (and I agree it does seem to read less of a range than I'd expected).

I asked Reading and they pointed out that the book says that if the fuel is low you need to put quite a lot in. The book didn't say how much - reading told me 24 litres (I think).

It seems pretty accurate in mine in fact. I did a long fast run (two and a half hours the other day) up to Lincolnshire and averaged 70mph and 27mpg. I 'proved' this by the amount of fuel I had to put in afterwards. On the return, I averaged 65mph and 29.9mpg, again verified. The difference I put down to going up north "balls-out" while taking it more steadily on the way home. The range to empty presumably bases itself on the current quantity and the current indicated mpg.
 
I was told 30 litres to force a recalculation. Something to do with a horse shoe shaped fuel tank and the sensor being on the wrong side..
 
I know I sidestepped that issue!. The answer is that it seems to be sorting itself out. I'll fill it right up next time i use it and see what happens.
