OBC temperature Gauge

Just what temperature does the OBC measure? Mine reads all sorts - yesterday evening when all the cars and the road were glittery it was reading 19C then 11C then 12C - all over the place. Charles said "ask Maurice - he'll know". So does he? Or does anyone else? Or has a sensor gone bodge as my teenage daughter would say! I have RTFM and that just says it isn't a frost sensor, It doesn't say what it is.

Sensor is in the mirror housing if I recall ...... I'm in the same kneck of the woods as you (Notts), and mine was reading in the low singles yesterday, and has been in the minuses during the last cold spell. Definately sounds faulty.....

-4 degrees on mine this morning [&:]

tho my backlight on the OBD has now stopped working [:(]

and I only seem to be able to get one of the 4 nozzles on the winscreen squirters to work... ( this started before the cold snap today )..

I filled up the bottle.. but the washer level light doesnt go off... and I can hear the squirter motor working.. but only water from one nozzle ! []

Aren't the nozzles supposed to be heated ? They work with the heated rear window and mirrors I think, so maybe if you turn on the heated rear window they'll work. All the above is from (distant) memory of my 964 so I may be wrong.

Sorry I've re-read your post - sounds like a pipe has come adrift somewhere or your nozzles are blocked ?

hmm, I think a pipe loose somewhere maybe..

not really sure where to start looking tho !

Laura - The OBC should be measuring the outside temperature, and the sensor is located behind the grille of the front PU. Left hand side on a LHD car - not sure if RHD is the same, but it usually is.

We shall have to look under there then! It has got aftermarket aircon fitted by the previous owner which may have disturbed the sensor. Maybe I shall just have to stick my head out of the window as a temperature gauge or just wait until a fast approaching ditch tells us it's below freezing! [:-]

[;)] sorry - shouldn't joke about these things - it could tempt fate! Blue stayed in the garage tonight as it was -2° outside.

This was taken from the p-car OBC retrofit DIY, but it might help.
