Nothing on ebay except an ibm 600 with cloned porsche software and a kts card will be any use to you .Except that is a durametric brand set up with the old round pin connector.

Go to rennlist and search the 993 and 964 disscusion boards. You should find what you want on there. Make sure you have the correct interface to work with the software. Later obd11 interfaces and those that run with specialist chips such as elm 323 won't work. But by the fact you mention obd1 i guess you know that !

Chris , Lets set out the terminology first ,By obd1 i take it you mean the round connector used from1989to 1994. when you say you have a converter to serial do you mean convert to the 1995 on industry std 16 pin obd type connector?
The car has no obd functionality only 993 turbos and usa spec carrera's have that software level. there is some software available for free on the net to interogate all systems on your car but it needs a specific interface which was the subject of a diy build project on this forum by maurice of register secretary fame (rtd) and others and resulted in a seminar a few years ago, search the posts for info.
I would still get durametric or the real thing as they are quite cheap these days.

Hi, I played around with this a few years back for my 993 with limited success,in the end I got the durmetic kit, which is what I should have done in the first place, would have saved me a lot of time and money which I spent messing about with other systems. Has saved me a lot of money over time, and found faults with it in a few mins, that would have taken hours with a multi meter.

So as Colt said above go for the durmetic or the proper one porsche use, the only thing I would say, is if you go for the porsche one, try and get the tablet one, not the old one known as the hammer, unless its very very cheap, cheers

I agree, I went for the Durametric solution which I bought from Hickley's

http://www.hickleys.com/diagnostics/durametric.php

The total costs (for the enthusiasts package) was £250 but I think you need the £299 one (has the round connector).

Anton
