Oct 8th for another Pro-drive Driver Training?

Given the popularity of this when R20 went, and expressions of disappointment at the time by various people who missed it, I'm a bit surprised to have had just one reply since Tuesday. But that's maybe because I posted at the end of the old thread.

So reposting just in case anyone is interested.

How about Monday October 8th?

I've been talking to Carolyn Barker who runs this "training" because I wanted to book myself in for their "public" session on Oct 8th (because I will be down south for the OBD Seminar at Cornbury House the day before).

We got talking about the session back on 10th August that Simon Kelly of R20 organised and she has offered to make October 8th an exclusive 993 event (well, Porsche) if we can get 10 bookings.

Like Simon's we will get a discount if we can get the 10. Cost will then be 280 pounds each.

Max number of drivers is 18. Max decibels is 98. It's in Warwickshire, about 5 miles from the M40 or M42 depending on where you come from. Full details on the web site at www.driverdp.com

To see the fun R20 had see: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=297906

I asked her about other dates around then but Friday, Saturday and Tuesday (other days that would work for me) don't have availability at the track.

Anyone up for this?[:)]

If not I'll just go along by myself to what will be an open public session.[&o]

The R20 event filled very quickly so get your names down. Post here first so I can see there is enough interest for her to mark it down as Porsche exclusive.

I would be interested in the 993 day except cant do in my 993TT due to the noise it makes, but would be up for it in my 944T.

As we are getting so little interest here, I've now also posted over on 911uk.

I'm trying to hold the 8th as Porsche exclusive so the sooner we can get 10 committed folk the better.

Any other PCGB interest?

This sounds like good fun. Is there a possibility they would allow a shared car - if only one of us can drive I think it could lead to a bit of marital strife! I'm not sure how it would work for instruction.

Laura,
I think it might even be better with one car between two. Because you have one instructor per two people. I guess the non-driving person at any time could get the the back seats and get extra tuition.

Just letting you all know I have booked for this.

We got very few expressions of interest this time around. (Well under the 10 required for the discount - but the discount was only 15 quid)

I decided I've just got to do it. One other person has booked so far (some one from 911uk)

Anyone else interested in booking call Carolyn Barker on 07796 305973

It's a runner even with only two people.

Mark, Are you fully booked? Only just seen this and may be interested.

Yes, I and keiths964 over on 911uk are definitely booked and going.

The more Porsche owners the better, so please get registered and come along on Monday if you can.

Three 911s turned up to this training last Monday (my 993, Keith964 from 911uk, and a 997 GT3 the guy had just picked up on Saturday) plus 3 guys in BMWs

With 3 trainers between the 6 of us it was a really good day's hands on learning. My instructor was John Cave - totally recommend him - really good tutor despite my virgin state.

All 3 911's failed the 98DB sound test! (I was 99.1) But the air cooleds were waived through on the dubious grounds of them being air cooled and therefore simply allowed the break the rules. The GT3 guy had to promise to stay under 4.5k RPM.

The simulated ice was the most difficult, lost count how many times I spun around in multiple circles. Was the same for the 964. All the other cars had it easy with electronics.

Here is the only video I managed to get (camera's window sucker kept failing). It's from the "Adverse Handling" skills area - great fun.

I recommend the day to anyone else who is thinking of going.
