Region 13 Report for October 2011 at The Bowling Green.
The Bowling Green, meeting, last Tuesday of the month.. They have now provided us with a room for our own use.
On Tuesday the 29th November, we will finish the year off with a film show presented by Steve Cutler, who did so well with a slide show earlier in the year. There will not be a meeting in December as it is right in the middle of Christmas.
On Saturday the 22nd, several of us attended the 50th Anniversary of the Inaugural Meeting of our Club, at the Chateau Impney Hotel, Droitwich. A total of 118, sat down to dinner, with members from all over the UK.
I first broached this subject at the Workers Conference in November, suggesting that I would look at it as a Region 13, first approach. It soon became apparent that a much wider interest was afoot.
I approached the Hotel in January, and managed to get reductions in the bedroom rates, in the Dinner rates and also eventually to eliminate the dining room hire charge.
On the 21st, a Friday, I put the initial information on the Members Only Forum and had instant response, around 40 or so requests.
One member responding to my 21/1/11 Forum, was Mike Pink who is in the same business as the Receivers, fortunately, knowing one of the partners. Mike offered to help and was paramount in smoothing the way and simplifying matters.
Mindful of the fact that the Hotel was in receivership, my first concern was the legal protection of Members' and Club's money. Matters which I discussed with Chris Tooley, over the AGM weekend.
Deposits for the Dinner and rooms were waived. The Receivers offered that the Club should be the Trustees for the Dinner Money and room booking would follow normal hotel procedure.
Now, I was in a position to meet the manager at the Hotel, to make final arrangement regarding the layout for the evening and inspect the rooms.
Eventually, we ended up with a great set of raffle prizes, a Disco, a film show and a super anniversary cake baked by Sue McKleod, which was divide between all of us. Not to fail to mention, the meticulous way in which the managers and staff handled the whole affair. I have sent a letter of thanks, to OPCs' Solihull and Sutton Clodfield and Porsceshop, who donated many prizes.
I called in around 4pm to see that all was well and to provide table details. I found a happy group on the terrace, enjoying drinks and a warm sunny afternoon.
Thanks to all who supported this.
And now for 2012.

To start the year off, we are having a New Year Dinner and Skittles, at the Bell Inn, Broadheath, Worcester, where we met early this year. Whilst it is intended to be on our Club Night, the 31st January, I am waiting to confirm, as we have to alternate with their darts league. So watch this space.
There will be a slight price rise, but I expect it to be within £10 per person for two courses and the Alley. Although we have to pay for this, if there are not enough players.
Let me know as soon as you can if you wish to come, so I can make plans.
Regrettably, Michelin have not come back to me with a date, despite many enquiries so we shall have to put that aside for now.
I shall be arranging a visit to Prodrive, Morgan and Patrick Motor Museum, all being well. Before the Morgan visit we shall have a talk by a Morgan specialist, to tell us something about the cars and their history.
Please try to use the R13 Forum as we intend to update and utilise more this coming year and I can update you about the above as I make bookings.
I have spoken to Alan Fradgley who has been ARO for some time. His photography business is happily thriving and taking all his time, so regretfully, he has decided to stand down for the time being. Following popular vote, Steve Cutler has agreed to take his place. Thanks to Adam and Steve.

31st January Skittles and Dinner at the Bell Inn
28th February Morgan Talk
27th March Swissvax
May, Curborough Thursday 17th May
