Odd temp guage problem and look under your dash for me!

Been running it for a bit now and seems to have a temp guage problem.
Temp gauge is fluctuating, from the usual just above the first line, up to the red then dropping back. Sometimes flicks about a bit. Not all the time just now and then. The car isn't overheating and the fan is working. I've changed both the sensors in the head to no avail.
I have a new themostat and rad sensor to fit yet.

The other odd thing, or maybe not maybe it's correct, is underneath the dash up in the drivers side I noticed, while struggling to find where the rear speaker cable had gone, that I only have one series resistor fitted. I found them on the PET showing as two and my old CS had two.
If you peer up they are two circular thingys mounted on a plate which is a heat sink according to the parts list.
The wires are there but tied up out of the way? Should it be there and if so why would somebody remove it?

Have a look for me boys and girls and see how many you have[:D]

Cheers
Dave

Hi David - I had a temp gauge problem that sounds similar to yours - the temp rose as you increased revs?!?! Sorted with a new thermostat IIRC.

Fraser.

I took out the dash and stripped it down completly, well, as far as you can, as it was moving when I tapped the dash in the temp guage area.
Reassembled it carefully after just cleaning connections and, touchwood, it's now OK.

Have a thermostat and fan switch to go in as precaution soon anyway.

Cheers
Dave
