My tripometer stopped working a few weeks ago wouldnt seem to reset, any way this morning i noticed i had 957,600 miles on my clock???when i got to work i had managed 357,600, is it common for this to happen on odometers? btw my "normal" mileage should read 157k

thoughts??

cheers
Nick

That sounds perfectly normal. Assuming you work on Mars [:D]

Alternatively, one of the gears in the odometer has died, and your hundreds of thousands of miles dial is just free wheeling.

I know which one sounds most likely. What's the weather like on the Red Planet this time of year?

I've never heard of that one before do you have a warp drive button on the dash? [:D] I do know that our cars were recently listed in a magazine as one of the Top 10 easiest cars to 'clock' so once you get it fixed it will be easy to put it back to the correct figure.

In fact I think Porsch-Apart do offer a speedo fixing service and can set it back to the correct number afterwards.

Hi,I had my speedo repaired by VDO via the Porscheshop (costing the thick end of £100 with postage). It lasted one month longer than the warranty.I bit the bullet and bought a new one via my local OPC-£200 including discount, and ordered and delivered from Germany in 3 days. With hindsight I should have done this in the first place.
Hope this is helpful.
regards,
jr.

Usually if the plastic gear goes the odo stops or is erratic. But a strip down inspection should confirm whats wrong.

I have a spare I bought from Paragon Products, you can have it at cost should you need it.

The easy option is to buy a complete speedo with close to your mileage.
