Odometer

Hi,

I have a 1983 Porsche 911 Carrera and the odometer has just stopped clocking on the Kilometers. The car is left hand drive and was originally from Germany but I have exported it to Spain. Can anyone please help me with any advice as to wether it may be a cable issue and if it's something I can buy and replace myself.

Thank you,

Andy Baxter

If it is just the odometer (ie not the speedo too) then there was an interesting and detailed article in PP a few months back (less than 6 monhs ago) on how to disassemble and fix.

Mark,

Thank you very much for your suggestion. PP stands for what exactly. You can tell I'm new to this can't you! I'll go and get a copy of the Magazine, thanks again,

Andy Baxter

Hi Andy,

Sorry - and I have just noticed your forum account says "non-member" (although that does not always mean you are not a member!).

PP is "Porsche Post" the monthly (print) magazine of Porsche Club GB. It's actually a really good magazine if you are interested in old and new Porsche cars.

I don't keep my old copies, but someone else may chip in with details of which month it was and you might be able to get back issues.

Welcome to the forum!

Mark

Thanks again Mark, your help is very much appreciated. I have entered all of my details onto the site and registered. Does this mean I'm a member or do I have to do something else? I'll see if I can get hold of these magazines, it sounds like they have very interesting articles.

Best regards,

Andy

talk to Julian at Reap automotive. They specialise in rebuilding and servicing Porsche guages. I have used them many times and find them great.
