Off to Norway - any en-route recommendations?

Determined to use my C2, rather than just clean and look at it, I've just booked up a trip to Norway next month. Should be much nicer than Stansted to Torp by RyanAir again.

So, heading from Harwich to Hoek van Holland overnight, drive up through Holland, Germany and Denmark and then another ferry to Kristiansand in Norway - about 600 miles each way ... can't wait! Will be staying overnight in Northern Germany and somewhere in Jutland on the way back - any recommendations ?

I shouldn't be doing much night driving, but any suggestions where I should stick the insulating tape on the lights to avoid dazzelling other traffic. My previous cars had clearly marked areas on the lights, but don't see those on the 996.

Can't offer any useful advice but it sounds like a proper adventure! Did a trip a few years back, sadly not in my 911, but driving to Cyprus from the UK which I will always remember.

One tip- might be worth making space for a car cover- got some hydraulic fluid dripped on my car's roof on the ferry which made a bit of a mess.

I do have std lights. Thanks for the link - with that amount blanked out, I hope I can still see where I'm going !!

Anyone have recommendations for staying in Northern Germany on first overnight stop. I'm thinking Hamburg, Kiel or Flensburg ??

Stewart - you're not kidding. Mediocre restaurants in Norway are charging £25 for a bottle of basic australian cabernet sauvignon.

Hopefully I'll be doing plenty of driving, so can put the drinking on hold for a week. Hopefully going karting 'norwegian style' too - done that a few times before in a warehouse in Grimstadt - anything goes over there - don't think they know what a black flag is ... leaning on other karts round bends is normal etc. Miny you the concrete pillars holding the building up - which are in the middle of the racing track - are pretty scary !!

Yeah - off tomorow !! Harwich to Hook of Holland - then drive through Holland & Germany to Flensburg. Sunday up through Jutland to Hanstholm and another ferry to Kristiansand, Norway. Then next Friday, back, stopping near Aarhus, Denmark on way back. Hope the 996 makes it without drama ... have basic tools, jubilee clips, tyre seal, and hose repair tape just in case.... should be back home in time for next grand prix !!

Made it here last night. About 834 miles including an extra 10 miles down an back up the A12 by Colchester cos I forgot to turn off to Harwich !! (was on autopilot on usual route to London).

Nice and dry all the way - its a great car for the autobahn. Even crusing through Holland and Denmark was great - better than RyanAir anyway!. Noticed a bit of vibration at higher speeds, seemed to be coming from back at high speed, but not in lower gears with high revs, so think its just a wheel out of balance a bit. Will try and get them re-balanced before the return journey.

Got lots of interest in the car from the Danes - seems they have 250% import duty on cars, so anything vaguely expensive is extremely rare ...
