Off topic - dog lost in Cambs

Sorry if this breaks protocol but it is such a heartbreaking story, just hoping to spread the word and hope some finds her.

Please like and share to help us - Bayer was a rescue Bull Terrier living in her lovely new home, she went missing at midday on Thursday 29th Dec from Milton Country Park near Cambridge. Postcode is CB24 6AZ...

Bayer is such a special girl who didn't exactly have the best start in life. However, she was eventually adopted from an amazing couple who due to no fault of their own, had to let her go. At that time, she was living very close to Ipswich and we drove 200 miles to see her. We fell in love with her immediately and brought her home to Staffordshire where she has been for the last 3 months.

We regularly keep in touch with her previous owners, and have become good friends with them. We decided that it would be really nice to meet up at Christmas with all the dogs and go for a walk, as they were desperate to see Bayer again. We agreed to meet roughly half way and plumped for Milton Country Park near Cambridge. (CB24 postcode area)

We arrived at midday on Thursday 29th December where her previous owners were eagerly waiting for us. Bayer was in the boot of the car and looked very excited. Little did I know that she was about to change our lives forever. I opened the boot thinking that she would jump out and enjoy all the fuss she was about to get, whilst giving me time to clip the lead to her collar.

How wrong could I be? She leapt out of the boot and started to run like I have never seen her run before. We started to run after her, screaming at her to come back but she was so fast - we had no chance of catching her. We then spent the next 3 hours scouring the local area for her, but to no avail.

Someone told my Husband that they had seen her leave the park and run along a road towards Tesco supermarket which is close by. We searched nearby streets but found nothing. With the help of our friends, all organisations (Police, Dog Warden, Vets, you name it.....) were called immediately.

At 3pm we had to make the heartbreaking decision to leave, as we had to drive 120 miles back to collect my 6 year old son - who knew nothing about the incident.
Since then, we have tirelessly tried every avenue to get some information. As yet, we have not received a single call.

We are not in the fortunate position of being able to scour the streets of Cambridge to look for Bayer - it is just too far away. This is making it increasingly frustrating and upsetting for us. Hence the reason for this page.....

Please help us. xxxxx

Excellent, hope they have a good result. One thing to bear in mind is that the Police don't understand microchips; they scan the back of the neck, but the chip often travels a long way from where it's injected.

It's always worth visiting all the local stations and talking to the desk staff, and if you aren't happy going back when a different shift is on. I've known of a very distinctive dog that sat in a Police kennel for a week despite them being actively seeking the dog because it was connected to a crime!

so sorry to hear this alan, i wish you all the best in finding her, fingers crossed she will turn up safely and you will get her back, so bloody sad and fustrating tough but i hope you get her home, all the best, jason p

Sorry to hear this had a sad ending with the dog found dead, but at least the owners aren't left searching.

Well done to everyone who helped in the very widespread internet and forum campaigns, the next time someone accuses forums of being full of negative "warriors" perhaps they should consider how one day people might come together like this in their aid!

Saddened to hear this, I still remember the day the transport police rang me to tell me they had found my dog [:(]
We had just moved house and he ran back to the home he had known for 6 years previous..
