My Boxster will soon be due for a service and MOT, it is now out of warranty,

I' ve never owned a car this old before so have always had to use official dealerships in order to keep the warranty valid.

Reading through other postings it would seem it might be wise to take my car to a unofficial specialist, but I' m worried that this may effect the saleability of the car when the time comes.

If you plan to part with the car you I would advise that you stay with an OPC for the time being.

I have been advised by an OPC workshop manager that cars up to 5 years old or 100k miles could still expect some sort of concessions from Porsche if something broke. This would require an official stamp in the service book.

Prospective buyers of a car this young would probably expect to see an OPC stamp in the book.

Hi Helen

My Porsches have been between 2 to 7 years old during my ownership of them and I' ve always taken them to OPC' s. The official stamp in the book eases selling and is worth quite a few quid at trade in time, plus the OPC has access to latest electronic engine diagnostic info and equipment. It' s worth having a chat to your friendly service manager and discussing possible discounts for keeping you servicing with them.

I tend to get any non-Porsche specific work (e.g. brakes, tyres) at a local independent only if significantly cheaper - making sure they used proper parts.

[Though for all the Audi' s and VW' s I' ve owned (some new) I never once had them serviced at a VAG dealer - trusted the independents more......]

Hope this helps

I just phoned around 4 opc' s to get an idea of how much a MOT and service will cost and i have got 4 very diffrent answers/quotes.
im reluctant to go back to Solihull(long story i won' t bore you with)although it' s the easiest for me to reach.
so looks like it' s back to Sutton coldfield for me.

sorry Nottingham your just too expensive!!

My local OPC is Stratstones in Wilmslow who have always been pretty fair with me.

Cheers
