Oh dear - my car was taken away by Porsche Assist

Just for info - I'll update you on the outcome when I know.

Arrived back from Bonn this moning, got in the car at Heathrow and drove to office.
Trying to reverse it into a parking spot, I stalled it. Which is uncommon (since I have got used to it) but not unheard of.
I thought it made a bit more of a clonk than normal, but thought nothing of it. I restarted it, although it seemed to take a fraction longer to catch, but this might be my imagination, then I had the message "Failure Indicator" which a picture of the temp guage.
The Temp guage is indeed Failed, since it now does not move off the stop.
I parked and thought it was a software issue.
I stopped and restarted the car, but it still appeared. So I locked the car, thinking this might reset it, but it still appears when you put the key in.
I then left it to cool down for a couple of hours, but it still showed the message.
I though maybe a hose had come off and it had lost water, but there is nothing under the car.

I called the OPC (Guildford) who service it, and they said they cannot look at it quickly, since they need it for a day to investigate and, by the way, Thursday is free.
I asked whether I could drive it, and they seemed unsure. I also asked how I should get home.
They then suggested I call the assist number.

They are friendly and efficient. They were going to send a RAC man to look, but I suggested there was not much they would be able to do. So 50 mins later a truck turned up to take it away to Guildford.
They have now given me diesel S-type till Thursday evening.

Hopefully it will just be a loose wire or a dodgy sensor, but we'll see.
What happens if things are more serious, I'm not sure. Presumably someone will call to let me know.
At the moment I do not know how I will get home on Thursday.

Sorry to hear - is this the first 'recovery' for the car?

To be honest, there don't seem to be too many tales of break downs of modern Porsches on the forum.

Hopefully all will be rectified soon and presumably all covered by warranty.

First time the car has been recovered.
Actually it is only the second time I have ever been recovered in 18 years (previous time was for hitting a lamppost backwards at speed, but I'd rather forget about that).
It should all be covered since the car is less than 2 years old.

I also noticed the key does not open the front boot anymore (noticed last week but have been in France and Germany). Before I did anything, I wanted to try the other key to see if maybe it is just low batteries or something.

Last week I also noticed there is a small dent in the rear (like a door has hit it), but right at the back of the wheel arch, but I am going to wait until it is warmer to fix that (since there is less chance of cracking the paint then).

Anyway, this seems to be my three things (for this month).
It's there to be used.

Stuart, I had a parking ding on the rear arch, fine to get out unless its right on the edge/lip as its double skinned [].
I couldn't get my keyfob to work at all least week, nowhere as exotic as yourself, just Blackpool. I had only popped into a cafe to get a coffee... I then noticed one rather large and tall radio transmitter, worked fine later in the day (in the same town).
Just waiting for number 3 []

It's fixed. The car will be brought back to me this afternoon.

The engine temperature sensor (which seems to be different to the water temperature) failed.
It also seems it was not seated properly.
They have fitted a new one and checked the wiring, plus done a road test and all seems OK.

Why it failed when I stalled seems just to be coincidence.
Anyway, at least it was something minor.
